Big mountain dominator Jeremy Jones has added another logo to his helmet in the form of former Japanese electronics giant Sony. Yes, they still exist and are apparently making products. Remember the Walkman? Same company. Guess they even make some kind of video game playing device for people who don’t have iPhones.
What Jones will be promoting is a small POV camera that is apparently the company’s glacially slow response to the GoPro. Footage looks pretty good, too.

ActiveReplay, the action tracking company behind the Trace. Has reportedly landed $2.1 million in seed funding, according to a story on SoCalTech.com.
Details on the funding have not yet been announced. According to the filing, part of the funding came from Allegro Venture Partners, and also included a number of other investors. Active Replay’s CEO is Dr. Anatole Lokshin, a pioneer in developing GPS devices, who was the CTO of Magellan Navigation.
Sounds like perfect timing as they’ve been promising to release the Trace in March 2014. $2.1 million should get a few devices out into the wild, and it would be nice to see one of these “Strava for action sports” devices make it past the vaporware phase.

A snowboarder is being blamed for triggering an avalanche on Mt. Jumbo that destroyed a home in the Missoula, Montana neighborhood of Rattlesnake Valley, burying three people, according to a story on Mail Online.
The avalanche on Friday roared down Mount Jumbo and through a neighborhood northeast of downtown Missoula, several blocks from the University of Montana. . . The three people remained hospitalized Saturday, a day after the avalanche slid down 4,768-foot Mount Jumbo into the northeast Missoula neighborhood, a St. Patrick Hospital spokeswoman said. . . Fred Allendorf, 66, a retired professor from the University of Montana, is in serious condition while his wife, Michel Colville, is in critical condition, hospital spokeswoman JoAnn Hoven said. . . The avalanche was 1,800 feet long and about 300 feet wide at the crown, said Steve Karkanen, director of the Missoula-based West Central Montana Avalanche Center. It came down a 35-degree slope and was then funneled into a gully, where it picked up energy, he said.
Sadly, Michel Colville, 68, has died from her injuries according to a story in the Missoulian.
Michel Colville, 68, was in her home when the slide hit the residence, burying her for nearly three hours before she was found by rescuers. She died Sunday night.

A 17-year-old employee at Raging Buffalo Snowboard Park in Algonquin, Illinois was discovered with his arm entangled in a “conveyor belt” of a magic carpet lift at the resort on March 2, 2014, according to a story in the ABC 7 News.
Numerous fire agencies responded to a technical rescue at 1:46 p.m. at Raging Buffalo Snowboard Ski Park, 19-265 Western Ave., Algonquin Fire Battalion Chief John Greene said in a release. More than 30 personnel worked to remove the 17-year-old boy’s arm from a conveyer lift. . . The teen was flown at 2:47 p.m. to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, according to Greene. The employee’s condition was not immediately known and the incident is still under investigation.
The resort is closed today. Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the lift operator.

San Clemente, California based screen-print artist and painter David Blake will be presenting 15 all-new, original art pieces in his solo show Greetings From The OC at Laguna’s Artists Republic 4 Tomorrow.

Our favorite logo battle returns this March for 2014 as Scott Hultgren hits us back with Valhalla’s March Logo Madness.
The bracket competition takes its cues from the NCAA March Madness basketball tournament but instead of a bunch of guys running around for three hours, logos from brands like Quiksilver, Volcom, Indpendent Trucks, Girl, Burton, Nike, Adidas and Obey go head to head for a day. Whoever gets the most votes moves on to the next day to battle the next logo.
