The Washington Post looks in on the antithesis of Ryan Sheckler-style professional skateboarding with an extensive profile on Washington DC’s 36-year-old originator Brian Tucci. And it’s not exactly a happy story:
Yet unlike skateboarding’s biggest stars — Tony Hawk, Rob Dyrdek, Bucky Lasek and Shaun White — Tucci has never found a way to cash in on his renown. Instead he has lived a nearly destitute, nomadic existence, couch-surfing at the homes of buddies, shacking up with girlfriends or staying at his mother’s house.
Sometimes it’s tough to stop living the dream. . .

that’s a sad story man…one that I fear is true for a lot of people that can’t let go of the dream
sounds like he needs to get a job
Sad? I beg to differ. It’s a great article about a very cool great person. Why is it bad? Cause it said he is irresponsible & doesn’t make money? He’s better than any other person in the post today or yesterday (& I’m sure tomorrow). So if he had a sponsorship he would be better? Sick social values in a sick society. In a perfect society we could all allow ourselves to be Brians. Loving life is the only thing worth something. Go Tucci!
Tuc is a solid solider. No beef jerky or skin lotions sponsors. His skate career slipped threw the cracks. But don’t feel bad for him,he doesn’t.
