Lincoln’s Kevin Wilkins Skateboard Park

by The Editors on August 29, 2026

No better way to remember a skateboarding friend than to have a skatepark named in his memory. That’s what will be going down in Lincoln, Nebraska’s with the Kevin Wilkins Memorial Skateboard Park according to a story on KLIN.com.

Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird announced Friday that the skatepark at Canopy Yard will be named the Kevin Wilkins Memorial Skatepark. Wilkins, 58, died of cancer Nov. 4, 2025. “Kevin wanted Lincoln to be a place where skateboarders could gather, where young people could find belonging and where people from different backgrounds could connect,” Gaylor Baird said. “Naming this skatepark in his honor recognizes both his extraordinary contributions to skateboarding and the deep commitment he had to Lincoln.”

Of course, we’d rather have Kevin still around giving us the occasional shit, but short of that this is quite proper.
