It’s old news if you’ve been following along, but good news compared to what could have happened when Luke Mitrani came down hard on a fronside double fork 1080 attempt in New Zealand and broke his neck (fractured his C5 vertebra) on September 2, 2013, according to a story on GrindTV.com.

. . . [Mitrani] underwent a successful surgery and is currently recovering. In less than two weeks he’ll be back in the U.S., where he will continue the rehabilitation and physical therapy that he has already started in Christchurch. He is expected by doctors to make a full recovery within six to twelve months, though that time frame will have him sidelined for the rest of this winter season, which means he will not be able to qualify for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia.

Phew. This was another really close call for the Frends crew. And we’re glad Luke is up and walking around. We wish him a speedy and complete recovery! Having nurse Nadja Purtschert there by his side can’t be a bad thing. . .
