ENCINITAS, Calif. (Feb. 4, 2013) – Luke Mitrani wins the Sprint U.S. Grand Prix half pipe championship following a third place podium finish at the season’s final Grand Prix half pipe contest. With the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in sight, the intensity in Park City, UT, picked up with more big tricks and higher stakes. His podium finish this weekend, combined with a second place finish at the U.S. Grand Prix at Copper Mountain, CO, in January, was more than enough to secure Mitrani’s first U.S. Championship title along with a $20,000 overall prize.

The Vermont bred champion, was thrilled to take this weekend’s overall win in Utah. “I’m happy to have landed the run that I’ve been working so hard on,” said Mitrani. “Today’s finish feels good, I am definitely stoked. Mitrani put down an incredible half pipe run with a backside indy, frontside 1080 double cork, cab 1080 double cork, frontside 900 tail grab and double Michalchuk. Mitrani is known for his original skate-influenced style and amplitude in the half pipe.

Mitrani is known for his big smile and bringing good times wherever he goes. Having started riding competitively at only 10-years-old, he continues to progress coming into his own with this overall win.

Off-snow, you’ll find Mitrani playing music, specifically his Taylor Guitar that he won at the previous Grand Prix event, skateboarding and enjoying creating new projects with his Frends.
