Story-Bleiler-Vision-Snowbojohn-175212After that eye-socket shattering injury during trampoline training last summer, Olympic silver medalist snowboarder Gretchen Bleiler, 31, talks about her return to snowboarding, the X Games, the upcoming Olympics, and what it all means with the Associated Press.

Now, after surgery to repair the eye socket, dealing with double vision and headaches so severe she felt like she was constantly in a wave pool, Bleiler has a different take: There’s no way she could ever give up snowboarding. . . And, of course, that’s the competitor talking. . . “It was a terrible experience,” said the 31-year-old Bleiler, who’s from Aspen, Colo. “Now that I’m back, I have a new perspective. I’m just letting myself have fun, let everything come back when it comes back. That’s where I’m at mentally with everything.”

She hasn’t competed since here injury, but according to the story she may compete in the Winter X Games this month for a shot at her fifth gold medal. We hope she rides safe and wish her the best.
