Four Finalists In Chris Zider Binding Contest

Binding Contest

In March, 2011 we mentioned that Bob and Cheryl Zider, the parents of 15-year-old snowboarder who died from snow suffocation while snowboarding at Tahoe, were holding a design competition to help find a binding that would have allowed their 15-year-old son Chris to separate from his snowboard after falling. They hope a new design could help save lives.

The Zider’s have now picked four finalists in the competition. Scott Nisbet, Brad Brinson, Thomas Trudel, and Adam Weisberg all have designs that they thing could win them the $10,000 prize. Click on their names to view the designs and let us know what you think in the comments. We’re not sure there’s anything in the designs to get all that excited about.

The idea of the feature is good enough, but if you’re so stuck that you can’t undo the bindings like you normally would, how will this help at all?

I have been stuck in snow a couple of times, and I know that you don’t move an inch..
