by The Editors on February 7, 2011

Two snowboarders were killed and three injured in two separate avalanches at Cheget Mountain in the Russian Republic of Kabardino-Balkar over the weekend, according to a story on Itar-Tass, and a 35-year-old Colorado snowboarder died Sunday, February 6, 2011 after hitting at tree at Eldora Mountain Resort, according to a story in the Daily Camera.

The report on the Russian snowboarders claims that two groups of snowboarders were riding in area where it “was prohibited.” Each group triggered an avalanche in which members of their group where buried. The bodies of two snowboarders were recovered from the first avalanche and three were buried, but only injured in the second. The first slide happened at 12:30 local time and then second at approximately 2 PM.

The Eldora snowboarder was Scotty Goodale. He was a dad, husband and one hell of a shred. He filmed with Finger On The Trigger in the early 2000’s, worked at Milosport, was a Steamboat kid in the 90’s, and was a rep for Krew, Supra, Airblaster…
Just a great kid that was never with out a smile and always lit up a room with his laughter.

This fucking blows.

RIP Scotty.

This is horrible. Scotty was absolutely the coolest guy; incredibly polite and sincere … and yeah, he was a great rider, too.

I ran into Scotty not too long ago at Milo, we exchanged info and planned on riding e.d. Scotty was so stoked to be working with Stepchild and Airblaster and be back in Boulder.

Really going to miss that GREAT smile.

RIP, Scotty. And my thoughts go out to your family.
