Not Really On Our Agenda

Agenda Ov

Some pretty large brands were missing from the ASR show floor this September. While a few disappeared from the San Diego trade show scene completely (Analog, Podium), others like WESC, Nikita, Sole Technology, Gravis, Supra, and 686 all opted for little stalls at the Agenda Trade Show.

Located less than a mile away from the San Diego Convention Center in the San Diego Concourse, Agenda is five and half years old and has shadowed ASR’s dates eleven times. But this is the first time we’ve ever made it over to see the much talked about show in person.

This year Agenda featured 107 brands (The Hundreds, Cre8tive Recreation, Crooks & Castles, Obey, etc. . . ) which cater to the T-shirts and sneakers boutique crowd.

Agenda likes getting people from ASR to come over for a visit. They like it so much that they have 12 limos running all day to shuttle “guests” back and forth between the shows. The limos were hot and stinky and the “10 minute ride” seemed much longer.

More story and photos after the jump. . .

The Concourse, which is basically a beat down concert hall with faded carpet, made Agenda look more like a flee market than a trade show. But the place was loaded with product.

Bag1-1-1Damon Way and the incase crew had the amazing new P.Rod travel bags and the best iPhone 3G cases on the market. The Hundreds yelled at us for snapping a blurry photo of their boosted Disney graphics, “No photos please, we don’t want trouble from Disney.” Obviously they do or they wouldn’t have used them all over the outside of the black box booth. And then we left.
We probably expected too much, but Agenda was underwhelming. And we’re guessing that’s exactly how most of the brands exhibiting there like it.

Sole Tech
Sole Tech had a very nice, but mostly empty “suite” upstairs.

Gravis Booth
Since Chris Miller has been gone from Adio he gets to wear Vans again and hang out in the Gravis booth.

Gravis Arto
Arto Saari’s next Gravis skate release. How did he know we love orange?

Howell
Andy Howell and one of the mass-customized art decks available soon from his new Artsprojekt.com. Expect a limited edition release from Shepard Fairey coming soon. . . and no, they won’t be Obama Hope graphics. “He doesn’t want to make any money off those graphics,” Andy said.
