Towing Kills Illinois Skateboarder

by The Editors on August 4, 2010

Alexander Baer, a 17-year-old skateboarder from McHenry County, Illinois, died last Thursday, July 29, 2010 from head injuries he sustained from a fall while reportedly towing on his skateboard behind a car according to the Chicago Sun Times.

An autopsy on Saturday found Baer died of craniocerebral injuries from a fall from a skateboard and his death was ruled an accident, the medical examiner’s office said. . . Baer was near his home Tuesday at 3:50 p.m. on a skateboard being pulled by some type of rope attached to a vehicle, according to a release from the McHenry County Sheriff’s office.

Towing continues to kill unrestrained. . . and yet skate video continue to feature it. Strange, huh?

It’s sorta like BMX legend Van Homan eating it and breaking his skull at xgames in bmx street, and the rest of the bmx street competitors still not wearing helmets.

why should they have too? im pretty sure if your a pro you know the risks and you’ve felt the pain. Also about the sketching or “towing” there is no kid going out and saying “yeah i’m gonna sketch this car and there are totally no risks” because from your first day skateboarding you find out this shit is dangerous thats like saying we should cut out stair sets from skate videos that’ll fucking kill you too. man i skate the fucking streets of new york where taxi drivers actually try to hit you (its like fucking cat and mouse) but if i get hit i’m not trying to blame it on a pro just wanting to do some shit in a vid that looks cool its fucking my fault
