Skateboarder Dies After Losing Wheel

by The Editors on March 22, 2010

Henry A. Langhaim II, 19, was riding his skateboard down Southwest Autumnview Street in Bull Mountain, Oregon when one of his wheels reportedly came off causing him to crash, according to a story in the Tualatin Times.

Neighbors who witnessed the crash had started CPR immediately, but medical personnel were unable to revive Langhaim after transporting him to Legacy Emanuel Hospital. He died of a head injury sustained from the crash. . . After taking witness statements and examining his skateboard, Sheriff’s deputies determined that Langhaim was riding down Southwest Autumnview Street — which has a steep incline — when a wheel detached from the skateboard he was riding. Deputies figure he most likely struck his head on the sidewalk.

Langhaim was not wearing a helmet. Our thoughts are with Langhaim’s family and friends.
