Kyle Cryblskey, 23, of Battle Ground, Washington was riding with his girlfriend at Mount Hood Meadows on Saturday, February 13, 2010 when he crashed off a jump according to KATU.com.
. . . he reportedly took a jump and crashed during landing. He later died from his injuries. . . Kyle’s father says he loved the outdoors almost as much as he loved his family. Cryblskey was not wearing a helmet but it’s unclear if that would have saved him. . . He appeared to have landed on his head, or on one side of his head, said his father, Joe Cryblskey Sr.
Our thoughts are with the entire Cryblskey family.

I overshot a landing and landed on my head at one of the jumps. Fortunately, I was wearing a helmet. As a result, I got a concussion. There is a big dent on the helmet. Without it, I seriously doubt I would be here right now. Today, I wear a full face. Once you go full face, you can’t go back to a regular helmet. And I have much more confidence.

word.
My utmost prayers to the family for their sudden loss. As a longtime rider on Mt Hood I have seen many traumas and unfortunate accidents. I only hope that the mountain can bring back the ‘Park Rangers’ to intreact with the customers again to ‘continue Safety procedures and ensure the guests have a great time’ and possibly the attention will bring riders ability levels into check.
SO sad! This hits close to home, since I practically grew up on Mt. Hood. People are just getting over the death of that skiier a few years ago, so to have another one puts quite the damper on the hill. I heard that his not wearing a helmet wasn’t much of a factor because it was a neck/upper-spinal injury; still a stark reminder, though, to always keep safety in mind.
