The Quiksilver Pro France Infographic

by The Editors on September 30, 2011

Quikpro InfoSurfer Magazine has created an amazingly beautiful infographic overview of stats leading into the ASP Dream Tour’s stop in France. Here’s what they’re saying:

With the Quiksilver Pro in France set to kickoff the European leg of the tour on October 4, we took a step back from all of the Ke11y hysteria and examined the rest of the tour’s relationship to the venue. And although Kelly and Owen will surely be contenders, we found that Mick Fanning’s 60 percent event-win ratio over the past five years makes him a major player.

by The Editors on September 30, 2011

We know that Burton doesn’t like to think of its B brands as anything but A, however, when they announce that John Jackson is now riding for Burton it becomes kind of obvious which brand is numero uno.

“It’s rad to be a part of such an insane company and team who’ve paved the way in snowboarding since the beginning,” said John Jackson. “I can’t wait for the snow to fly to test out some new gear and let ‘er rip. It’s an honor.”

Welcome to the big leagues, Mr. Jackson. We’re surprised it took them so long.

Hurley’s New CEO Steps Over From VF Corp

by The Editors on September 30, 2011

Egeck HeadshotIt appears that the spin on the revolving door at the Hurley CEO office as once again slowed as Nike names former VF Corp. apparel veteran Michael Egeck to head up the surf brand.

Egeck, 52, brings nearly 30 years of experience to Hurley. His most recent assignment prior to coming to Hurley was as President of True Religion Brand Jeans. Prior to that, Egeck was at VF Corporation where he served as President of VF Contemporary Coalition and CEO for Seven for All Mankind. Egeck also served as President of the VF Outdoor and Action Sports Coalition, leading an extensive brand portfolio including Vans, Reef, Jansport, The North Face, Eastpak and Napapijri. In addition, Egeck also served as President of The North Face, Inc. and GM of Columbia Sportswear.

Sounds like Mr. Egeck (who will report to Roger Wyett) has a pretty good handle on the clothing business. Follow the jump for the entire press release. [click to continue…]

Nyjah Huston’s Double Rock

by The Editors on September 29, 2011

Thrasher Magazine grabbed followed Nyjah Huston around the park for awhile and as they said, “Nyjah Huston filmed this Double Rock in about the same time it would take you to watch a shitty Adam Sandler movie.” We’re not surprised at all but it is crazy impressive all the same.

Jack O’Neill: It’s Always Summer on the Inside

by The Editors on September 29, 2011

Oniell BookLongtime surf scribe Drew Kampion has written an apparently commissioned biography of O’Neill wetsuit founder Jack O’Neill titled (not suprisingly) Jack O’Neill: It’s Always Warm on the Inside. The book is being published in conjunction with the 60th anniversary of the iconic Santa Cruz brand.

Jack O’Neill began with a vision to create an innovative suit and unknowingly he spawned an entire industry. Today, O’Neill is sold in more than 47 countries and is the number one wetsuit brand in the world. The brand is currently carried in core shops, department stores, and other mass retailers world-wide and is known for high-quality goods for men, women and children. . . “O’Neill has a 60 year history of developing the industry’s best products,” says Pat O’Neill son of Jack and CEO of O’Neill Wetsuits, “the brand was founded on my dad’s passion to be the ‘first in the water’ and we infuse this belief into each product we produce.”

The book, which is currently available for pre-order on Amazon.com for $26.40, will be released on October 1, 2011. For more info, follow the jump. [click to continue…]
