Ridge Mountain Academy Bridges The Gap

by The Editors on January 16, 2015

RidgeacademyKnow anyone who will be done with high school this year, but isn’t really sure they’d like to go straight to college without out getting a little snowboarding in before it all starts? The Ridge Mountain Academy in Whitefish, Montana could be the perfect solution.

Whitefish was chosen as the site for the academy for its access to backcountry terrain near Whitefish Mountain Resort and Glacier National Park. The academy operates on a 16-acre campus where students live, cook, and study. Each participant engages in physical training and coaching in their chosen discipline of backcountry skiing or snowboarding, with additional disciplines of Nordic skiing, ice climbing, and skimo racing. In the fall semester, the program transitions to mountain climbing, trail running, and mountain biking.

Not a bad way to get prepped for college. For the official word, follow the jump. [click to continue…]

Bern + Wu-Tang = Watts Wu-Tang Helmet

by The Editors on January 14, 2015

Watts Wutang Knit Back CrankfitTo snowboarders of a certain age Wu-Tang is the coolest thing ever. We’re not sure exactly what that age is anymore, but we’re guessing Bern helmets knows because they’ve just launched a Watt Wu-Tang limited edition helmet.

The EPS/Thin Shell model is a certified helmet for both bike and snow. This model uses a thin ABS shell lined with EPS Foam to create a burly lightweight lid. A certified helmet is designed to crack and absorb a gnarly impact, much like you may encounter should you take a hard spill on the hill or riding your bike. Depending on the season your helmet will come with either an EPS Summer Comfort Liner or an EPS Winter Liner and you can buy the alternating season’s liner based on your needs to keep up with you through the seasons.

Aside from all that what is so special about this helmet? Well, it’s got a big yellow Wu-Tang Clan dragon logo on the side of it, that’s what. And apparently that is enough. But we wonder: would a Taylor Swift helmet sell more? And if any musician deserves a signature helmet shouldn’t it be Helmet? We’d definitely strap it on!
