Ryan Stassel, 15, looks like he could be on his way to super snowboard stardom according to the Anchorage Daily News.
The world is in his hands right now,” said Puckett, head coach of the Big Alaska Snowboard and Freeski Club, a nonprofit that offers competitions sanctioned by the United States of America Snowboard Association. “We’re seeing a generation of snowboarders who grew up with parents who snowboarded, and now we have 15-year-olds like Ryan close to winning events.”

According to Seattle’s NBC TV station:
A snowboarder has died in an accident in the Cascade Mountains. The King County Medical Examiner’s Office says the man fell off a jump at a snowboarding park on Saturday. The office says the man’s name won’t be released until Monday afternoon. The circumstances surrounding his death are not known.

10:15 PM: And the show ends with someone getting on the mic after the video went dead saying, “Tech nine is here, too. We’re rad. We’ve got MFM and. . . fuck you.” And with that, the show ended.
9:44 PM: What do you know. . . it’s rolling and it’s dope. Well worth the wait. Check it, click the link at the bottom of this post. Hopefully, they will post the whole thing so we can catch it again on our own time.
9:28 PM: Still no “Live webcast,” but here’s the latest update from Liam is as follows: “The man in charge, Mr. Hoy and the online president Evan LeFebvre are missing in action, but the bird call is out and once Big Ev and Kurt find their way to the stage things are going to go off.” They probably bagged the show and hit the tables.
9:10 PM: Twenty minutes ago Liam blogged that the show would be starting in 10 minutes. Seems like two hours would be enough time to bring in a satellite truck and beam this thing from Mars. Apparently not in Las Vegas.
8:52 PM: Still nothing but blank screen. At 8:35 PM Liam blogged the following: Things are about to get underway. Everyone’s getting good and tuned up. In general people are looking way more handsome than usual and now that we’ve all been in Vegas for a few days we’re all primed and ready. Hell of a night for a party.” Let’s hope something happens. Maybe the start time was 7:30 Hawaiian Island Time.
8:19 PM: After a couple short interviews by Annie Fast with Lil Jon and The Dingo, and a Andreas Wiig interview by Online Evan at about 8:00 PM the screen went black and we haven’t seen a thing yet. Like no live broadcast of anything.
7:53 PM: Well, it was supposed to have started 20 minutes ago, but you haven’t missed anything yet because they haven’t rolled anything but a “Testing, snow. Testing IBN Sports.”

Yeah, this is the guy we all want to hang out with right? Lil Jon. Okay, we don’t, but we are obviously in the minority (once again). Greg Lutzka, Ryan Shecler, Danny Kass, The Dingo, and Travis Mellem are all down with BME Click, according to Hip Hop Elements. We’ll let Mr. Kass explain it:
“When Lil Jon wanted to get into action sports he wanted to pull the illest crew together, and it is an honor to be picked by that man.” Sheckler also adds, “Action sports is taking over, and BME is a part of it. Keep your eyes open and get ready!”

Quiksilver, has appointed investment bank, JPMorgan, to initiate a sale process for its ski and snowboard brand, Rossignol. Quiksilver acquired Rossignol, in 2005, but the business has consistently underperformed ever since. The company wrote down the carrying value of Rossignol by US$166 million ($192 million) in the financial year ended October 31, 2007. Rossignol, along with Quiksilver’s three other winter sports brands, represents 16 percent of its total revenue.

After watching Steve Fisher fall in both his qualifying runs during the X Games and then seeing Shaun White dominate past all possible criticism, we find ourselves laughing out loud at some of Fisher’s quotes:
“It’s not just Shaun White,” Fisher said before this year’s Winter X Games. “Shaun White tends to get all the credit for snowboarding, but there’s a list of at least 20 people capable of doing amazing things. I always compare snowboarding to the PGA Tour: any one of these guys can win in any contest on any given day. It just depends on what kind of day they’re having.”
Apparently, Fisher was having a bad day at the 2008 Winter X Games.

With the cornball headline “Feats on Snowboard Keep Skateboard Star Warm” the Washington Post does it’s duty to cover the X Games.
“There’s always something to look forward to,” said White, who will compete in X Games 12 today in the snowboarder X, snowboard slopestyle and snowboard big air, along with the snowboard superpipe tomorrow.
“Those summer months are reeeal good,” he continued. “But then you hear about all your friends being up in the mountain, it’s a nice change. But definitely by the end of the winter, I’m over it and want to get on that skateboard and be in the sun.”
Asked which sport he enjoyed more, White leaned more toward skateboarding. But he would focus only on skateboarding if it becomes an Olympic sport. If that happened, White said he would take a year off to focus on it entirely.
