On June 28, 2008 snowboarders Danny Kass and Nate Holland visited Afghanistan to rally the troops for the war on terror, according to a story on First Tracks Online. You’d have to think that Grenade gear would be pretty popular about the barracks.

Okay, so what if the Burton and DC stores on Melrose have been a little as one person described them “crickets.” We know there was a ramp there for the opening party, then no ramp for the next party, and now, according to the website the LAist.com the roof, the roof, the roof is all ramped.
This isn’t a skate-park, and access to the ramp will be limited to who-ever the skate manager says can skate it. (Does he take bribes?) For the most part they intend on having Burton employees and Burton’s pro skateboarders doing their thing on it.
Maybe after we apologize for all the bad things we’ve said, they’ll let us up on the roof. We’ll get back to you on that.
The bodies of Michael George, 27, and Kyle Kerschen, 27, two missing Albuquerque, N.M. snowboarders who vanished at Colorado’s Wolf Creek Resort on January 5, 2008 were found after six months of searching Monday, June 23, 2008.
The two men were found approximately 500 yards apart in a natural bowl outside ski area boundaries. Kerschen was in a clearing where most of the winter snow had melted away and George was found uphill, leaning against a tree in a wooded area where there was still some snow on the ground. . . . Downing said both bodies were intact and in a condition to be expected after being covered with heavy snow that had begun melting.
The men apparently died of “hypothermia due to exposure.” Our thoughts are with the families and friends of the two men.
In December 2007 Phillip Hollins, 41, Kevin Carter, 26, and Devlin Williams, 29 went out for a two-day backcountry snowboard trip near Washington State’s Crystal Mountain. They were never seen again.
Friends had continued to search for the three men and finally found their bodies yesterday together in the tent that they were in when an avalanche apparently hit.
When the friends found the tent, they called the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office, and deputies went to the scene Saturday and prepared the bodies to be airlifted out, said spokesman Ed Troyer. They were too far out in the backcountry to carry out, he said.
According to a press release posted on Boardsport SourceBurton has announced that Francesco Navach will be the company’s first “European Director of Retail.”
Francesco will strengthen Burton’s retail business and drive all of Burton Europe’s retail initiatives. He will report directly to Hermann Kapferer, Burton Europe’s General Manager and Cathy Quain, VP of Retail in the US.
. . . Francesco spent nearly 10 years working for The North Face, where he oversaw the opening of around 40 Stores, first as Retail Manager EMEA and from 2005 on as Retail Director EMEA.

In a recent email from Burton Anne-Flore Marxer says that because of snowboarding she has friends all over the world.
We have a sneaking suspicion that she would have friends all over the world no matter what. In fact, we’re guessing it’s pretty hard for her to find anyone who wouldn’t want to be her friend, no matter what part of the world they live in.
