On August 21, 2009 just a week after Lucas Magoon went down with a head injury, Celtek designer Dave Doman went down with a similar injury while skateboarding in San Celemente, California, according to the Celtek website.
Doman was rushed to Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo, where he is currently in a medically induced coma, recovering from his injuries. Things are looking positive, but it’s going to be a long road to recovery. . . Hanging out in the ICU isn’t cheap so we are offering this poster and t-shirt featuring Dave’s original art to help raise some funds. 100% of the proceeds of the sale will go to help Dave with his recovery expenses.
It’s a good thing to do, not to mention a nice graphic T.

This clip from Zimtstern would have easily won many of the recent snow and skate video advertising contests. More importantly it puts us right back in the fall feeling when the air gets crisp, the nights get long, and we start strapping into our snowboards in the middle of the livingroom . . .

Trevor Andrew makes a great rock star. Then again he always did. But now, he’s doing it for real with his music. With a new album coming out some time in the next four to six months, he sad down with JamBase.com to talk about the band, the music and how Santigold got him going on the right track:
She’s a great supporter and a great business woman. She just schooled me to the game and once I had all these songs written – it was really a private thing; I did it by myself – she was the one who took it to the next level and was like, “I’m getting these to producers.” She did that and really motivated that and just encouraged me. [She said], “Just because you’ve lived your dream with snowboarding doesn’t mean you can’t have a new dream.”

Shaun White linked up his back-to-back double corks again to win the first LG Snowboard FIS World Cup Halfpipe of the season at Cardrona, New Zealand, according to a story on Funsporting.com.
Shaun put down a straight air, backside 900, frontside 720, cab double cork 1080, to a front 1080 in his first run, and a straight air, backside 500, frontside 720, cab double cork 1080, front double cork 1080 on his second run.
Although there were several riders like Nathan Johnstone (AUS) or US-riders Danny Davis and Scotty Lago who did try the Double Corks, it was White who was the only one sticking them into the snow in the finals, in his second run even as back-to-backs. But no one should think that this would be the end of the story as White adds: “For sure I have something in store. I’m always trying to stay ahead of the rest. I have more tricks which I might reveal at the national qualifiers for the Olympics.”
On the women’s side Neither Olympic gold medalist Kelly Clark, nor silver medalist Gretchen Bleiler could stop World Cup Halfpipe Champion Jiayu Liu, 16, of China as she won her sixth FIS World Cup snowboard event with back to back 720s.

When the Liberty Mountain Snowflex Center was announced a while ago we didn’t really put two and two together. We thought it was just another dry slope, only this time stateside in Lynchberg, Virginia. But when a friend mentioned that this new park was at Liberty University, the school founded by the Moral Majority’s Jerry Falwell it seemed even stranger.
According to a story on Inside Higher Ed, Jerry Falwell, Jr. built the 11-acre park to attract college students to Liberty U.
Adding a ski slope to Liberty is a move straight out of the Falwell playbook, according to Kevin Roose, a Brown University student who went “undercover” at Liberty to a write an expose on the university. . . .Jerry Falwell belonged to the ‘By any means necessary’ school of evangelism. He gave away cars to the first people who registered; he had a video game contest. I think if he could have gotten away with it, he would have given [new students] pieces of Noah’s Ark.”.
Grand opening festivities for the slope are August 29, 2009. The “mountain” is open from 5 to 10 PM daily and costs $7 a hour, $4 if you’re a student.
