John Jackson Gets Kicked Up To Burton

by The Editors on September 30, 2011

We know that Burton doesn’t like to think of its B brands as anything but A, however, when they announce that John Jackson is now riding for Burton it becomes kind of obvious which brand is numero uno.

“It’s rad to be a part of such an insane company and team who’ve paved the way in snowboarding since the beginning,” said John Jackson. “I can’t wait for the snow to fly to test out some new gear and let ‘er rip. It’s an honor.”

Welcome to the big leagues, Mr. Jackson. We’re surprised it took them so long.

Break The Bank: Not So Bad

by The Editors on September 27, 2011

All we can say about this Break The Bank video teaser from filmmaker Justin Dersham is that this is the only time we’ve ever watched a mountainboarding edit and thought for a moment, “Hey, this doesn’t look so bad.” But then they started riding them on the street and. . . we realized how wrong we were.

Danny Doesn’t Know Shit

by The Editors on September 26, 2011

We’re going to officially add Snowboarder Magazine’s Pat Bridges to the list of snowboarders who can act better than they ride. This new Nike Snowboarding parody of the old Bo Knows campaigns (“Danny Don’t Know”) proves it once and for all. We’re still laughing just thinking about how nice it must be for Mr. Bridges to get checks from both Source Interlink and Nike at the same time.

Over the past eight years Bear Mountain’s Hot Dawgs & Hand Rails event has become both the official summer snowboarding ender, and SoCal’s winter kick-off (opening day could be a month away).

On Saturday, September 24, 2011 thousands of shred fans arrived at Bear Mountain to see some rail riding, hang out, and pick up free stuff from dozens of the action industry’s most famous brands. We’ve never seen Bear Mountain’s parking lot so full. In fact, we had to park halfway up the mountain on a rutted, grassy slope surrounded by some of Southern California’s finest shred tailgaters.

Hdhr Pod

After what seemed like hours (3?) of rail jamming on all fronts of the delicious setup, judges JP Walker, Joe Sexton, Lauri Heiskari, and Seth Huot handed the $10,000 first prize check to Minnesota rail slayer Ryan Paul (maybe his frontflip wall ride to 50-50 had something to do with it).

HDHR Results
1. Ryan Paul $10,000
2. Brandon Hobush $3,000
3. Jesse Paul $1,000
