Tailtap.com’s Buddy Carr has collaborated with New York based graphic designer Antonio Carusone on the Hello Skateboard according to a post on CLDFX.com.
“Built around the simple idea that form follows function, Hello is not just another skateboard wrapped in a pretty package. Hello has been well thought out and designed for getting everyday skaters around the local campus, onto the board walk for surf checks and for casual rides at the local skate park. Hello’s smaller deck size allows it to store easily in lockers, under desk’s or small spaces. It’s softer wheels provide good grip, while also absorbing the bumps along the road. The trucks, with their ultra turning geometry and high rebound urethane bushings, allow for quicker turns, all of which add up to a fun and highly enjoyable ride.

Stardoll (Fame, Fashion and Friends) is another one of those sites that we don’t understand at all. But apparently the little girls understand. Stardoll is the “largest online community for girls who love fashion, shopping, decorating, creativity, and making new friends from around the world” and Ryan Sheckler is there and ready to dress up.
Apparently, Stardoll has more than 20 33 million users and Ryan is more popular than Beckham. Wonder if there is a “buy it now” button anywhere on the site?
Now, from our rarely updated “Smart Things Policemen Do” file comes news that the Police Department in Taft, California has decided that rather than hang out at the skateboard park writing tickets for kids skating without helmets they’re going to hang out at the park and give helmets away to kids for free. Genius. . .
Taft Police, with help from the Taft Rotary Club, are going to make sure that local skateboarders have helmets on when they go boarding. . . Police will be at the Taft Skate Park on Saturday to hand out 140 Mongoose skateboard helmets. . . The helmet giveaway will be held from 9 a.m. to noon.
But they’re not all rocket scientists in Taft. No, only kids who are at the park with their parents will get a free helmet. Which kind of defeats the purpose, in our opinion? Kids with parents who care enough to visit the skatepark with them probably already have helmets. But it still is a nice thought.
Wallenberg’s swan song? We didn’t go, but everyone we know did. Said it was amazing. Here’s a little of what the SF Weekly had to say:

After Steve Murraygot kicked upstairs to run VF’s Action Sports Coalition in January 2009 it was only a matter of time before Vans would need someone all its own. And the new guy? Former Vans retail division’s Kevin Bailey, according to the Orange County Business Journal.
Mr. Bailey, we only have one request: don’t change the Old Skools. Other than that, go to town.
Guess we’re going to have to wait until June 12, 2009 to see how this whole Street Dreams thing plays out, though it is kind of funny to see a bunch of skate celebs playing themselves in a “fictionalized” Flashdance world of skaters trying to make it while still staying true to their art.
