Street Dreams Or Skate Nightmares?

by The Editors on May 28, 2009

Guess we’re going to have to wait until June 12, 2009 to see how this whole Street Dreams thing plays out, though it is kind of funny to see a bunch of skate celebs playing themselves in a “fictionalized” Flashdance world of skaters trying to make it while still staying true to their art. Until then, here is another trailer.

The Skateboard Reformation

by The Editors on May 27, 2009

Former vert skateboarder Pete Davidson apparently believes that the skateboarding industry should put away childish things and grow up. Not that we disagree with him, but has he seen the Dew Tour and the X Games? How much cleaner/blander does he want it?

Guess we’ll have to read Reforming A Counter Culture: The Flaws and Fallacies of the Skateboarding Industry and How to Fix Them to find out.

Sheckler Blown Away By Toys

by The Editors on May 26, 2009

From the reaction these Action Sports Toys get from Ryan Sheckler you’d think they turn zits into pure gold.

Perry Ferrell vs. emerica

by The Editors on May 26, 2009

Footwear comments from the chattering Mr. Ferrell. . .

An emerica. This isn’t even as good as a Birkenstock. Get the fuck out. Get the fuck out of here with emerica. What is that $19 at Kmart? This guy doesn’t even know shit about fashion and not only that, he’s cheapskate. Not only that he doesn’t know anything about orthepaedic footwear. Get the fuck out of here with your emerica. What is this, give me some good stuff. I want some Yves saint Laurent.

Arizona Middle School Gets Skate PE

by The Editors on May 26, 2009

SkatepassFor years elementary and middle school kids have been subjected to the horrors of team sports. Now, at Sierra Middle School in Tucson, Arizona students are finally getting the chance to learn skateboarding during physical education class.

The district is using a skateboarding curriculum developed by Skate Pass, a Boulder, Colo., company that introduced it to schools nationwide in 2006. Sierra is the first school in Arizona using the curriculum, and this makes Arizona the 21st state that has the curriculum in a district, said Eric Klassen, co-founder of the company.

Wait, is that extreme snowboarder and Wave Rave Snowboard Shop’s Steve Klassen’s brother? We think it is. . .

Melcher In World Facial Hair Championships

by The Editors on May 26, 2009

Melcher-Mustache

Pro skater Patrick Melcher (right) finished second place in the “Imperial” division of the World Beard And Moustache Championships in Anchorage, Alaska.

The reigning champ, musician Alexander Antebi, preened and vamped his way to third place in what he dubbed his “Ziggy Czar Dust’ getup, professional skateboarder (and Bristly Chap) Patrick Melcher took second place, and Benjamin Juergens came out of nowhere to take first place in his first-ever competition.

Bet those rides are going to go for more than a quarter now that it’s a champion. . .
