Combi 3.0. That’s what many pros are calling it, and painting it in a very positive light. It’s the same, but it’s not the same. There really isn’t much more of a descriptive to explain it. It will be explained best by those who ride it over time, and of course you can fill in your own blanks after you’ve gotten some for yourself. As of press time, only one official session has now taken place, but over the course of a few short hours, it became quite apparent that things are going to be a little different from now on.
As we keep reminding friends, the Maloof’s didn’t get rich by screwing things up. They did it by giving people what they want while wisely understanding the value of hype. Now, they’re doing a little basketball x skateboarding collab on April 10, 2010 with their boy Brandon Beibel, Girl Skateboards, Volcom and Neff Headwear.
Be here live at ARCO Arena on April 10 for The Kings Good Day Skater Night! For this game only we have created an exclusive Kings Skater Game ticket Package for $49! Your Skater Game Pack includes the following:

Volcom is also sending skaters Dennis Busenitz, Caswell Berry, Rune Glifberg, and Darrell Stanton to to ride the skatepark in the parking lot before the game and signing autographs. Skateboarding x the finest team in the NBA. Not a bad idea.
It’s been a while since Greg Lutzka signed on with K-Swiss, but we haven’t really understood what they were doing with him. Skateboarding still isn’t listed in their website’s “sports nav” and we haven’t heard about anything else. Now we know. Somewhere in between the balls, bats, and triathlete jocks littered all over this 72 and Sunny produced clip Lutzka appears for a brief moment. If that’s all that’s required, looks like he’s got a pretty sweet deal.
The Tornoto Sun calls it a “bizarre accident” but as anyone who follows skateboarding knows, towing behind a car and getting seriously wrecked or killed is really not bizarre at all. It is cliché.
Niagara Regional Police said the crash happened around 6:30 p.m. Friday on Greenlane Rd., east of Ontario St., in Lincoln, Ont. . . A 27-year-old Beamsville man was on a skateboard, being towed behind a car driven by a 41-year-old man, police said. . . The boarder, fell and suffered a serious head injury. . . He was taken to McMaster Hospital where he remains in critical condition.
Towing kills. It’s a fact. If you don’t believe, click this link.
[Editors’ Update (April 7, 2010): according to a story on Canoe.ca the 27-year-old man who was hospitalized after being injured while towing died Tuesday, April 6, 2010 of his injuries. Canoe.ca.]

Thanks to some multi-million dollar renovations at Carlsbad High School, the world famous gap will be destroyed to make room for more better school yards. Transworld Skateboarding and DC got in for one last epic am contest session in on April 3, 21010. It went a little something like this.
Rob Dyrdek always seems to be in the money. And now, he’s helping kids get into their parents money as well with a new deal signed with BillMyParents, the online teen-targeted payment system of the San Diego, California based Socialwise Inc.
“I’m excited to work with BillMyParents. I like what they do,” said Mr. Dyrdek. “Giving teens freedom to pick what they want and also letting parents in on that, I think it gives parents insight into what their kids really want and gives teens the opportunity to learn financial responsibility. It just makes sense.”
Kind of crazy that a company can build a business on something as simple as a parent giving their kid a credit card, but leave it to Rob to make sure he gets paid. Follow the jump for all the details. [click to continue…]
Chase Rail, 18, a skateboarder in Tulsa, Oklahoma had a gun pulled on him for failing to have identification while skating on the campus of Tulsa Community College, according to a story on KTUL.com. The officer told them to leave:
“As soon as he said that we should leave, we started walking towards the car,” Phipps says. “We complied.” . . But Matt says the officers wanted identification. And, when Chase didn’t have any, an argument ensued and a gun was drawn.. . “He pulls it out, points it at Chase and says get on the ground you son of a bitch.”
Luckily for everyone most of it was on tape. “He challenged me, asshoe.”
We didn’t make it to the 4th Annual Clash At Clairemont on March 27, 2010 in San Diego, but the list of skaters who did is impressive as usual (Torey Pudwill, PLG, Jake Duncombe, Alex Perelson,Duane Peters to name a few). Tony Hawk was there and so was Shredordie.com. Now, it’s almost like we all went.
Skateboarding is used to market Ballpark Franks and most every other consumer product, why not the medical industrial complex. The makers of the Human Papilloma Virus vaccine Gardasil use girls skateboarding to kick off their message that teens should be vaccinated to reduce the risk of getting cervical cancer. Now the Journal of the American Medical Association has a report suggesting there may be some risks to the vaccine as well.
