Ryan Sheckler’s truck (but maybe not Ryan) was involved in an “intense midnight” shootout on Friday night, according to TMZ.
According to Orange County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to a call about a traffic collision late Friday night involving a possible drunk driver — but when they showed up, we’re told, the driver motored it away from the scene. . . Law enforcement sources tell us … officers chased the driver down and cornered him on a dead end street — the driver panicked, pulled a U-turn, and gunned it in the cops’ direction … at which point, we’re told, sheriff’s deputies drew their weapons and shot at the truck. . . We’re told the driver — who turned out to be an unidentified minor — wasn’t hit … and gave up immediately after the deputies shot their weapons.
TMZ says the truck was later reported stolen by Sheckler. Hmm. . .
“Wanted to let everyone know Ryan is safe. His vehicle was stolen from his house, located in a secured gated community Friday night. Ryan is no way involved in this incident nor has any connection to the suspect. Ryan thanks his friends and fans for the concern.”- Representative of Ryan Sheckler at Wasserman Media Group
While in previous years Hill has issued bullish assessments of the outlook only to have them fail to materialise, he’s now playing it safe. He talks only of stabilising revenues and growing through market share expansion. . . “We have some positive signs in the business at the moment but markets are also erratic, so we’re being cautious both on the outlook and how we manage the business,” he tells The Australian.
Blackbook Magazine interviews Tony Hawk on the business side of skateboarding and discovers that like for most of us hardest part of Tony’s job is managing his time.
Prioritizing my time is definitely the hardest. Just in terms of how much time I need to devote to a project, or traveling, or promoting and trying to maintain a stable family life as well.
Concrete Wave’s Michael Brooke sent us this little clip this morning. Apparently, the longboard skateboard community is feeling a little heat from the major labels.
A little retro fuel for Friday fantasy from the 1978 BBC Skateboard Kings documentary on skateboarding staring Tony Alva, Stacy Peralta, Paul Constantineau, Shogo Kubo and host of cool kids. Silverfish Longboarding has all seven parts in order right here.
According to a report released by the Magazine Publishers of America magazine advertising pages during the third quarter (July to September 2010) were up 3.6 percent over the same period last year. The biggest gains were in the retail category where pages were up 7.2 percent and revenue was up 13.1 percent. As we do most quarters we’ve checked in with the only action sports magazines followed in the Publisher Information Bureau (Bonnier Corporation’sTransworld Media) and see that things are mostly looking up. In fact Q3 looked great for all the titles aside from Skateboarding and Wakeboarding:

The mother of all DIY skateboard parks, Portland, Oregon’s Burnside will be celebrating its 20th anniversary this Sunday, October 31, 2010. In preparation for the event there’s been a lot of construction going on under the bridge, according to a post on Skatedaily.net.
. . . co-conspirators and two of several original masterminds of the self-made skate zone, Mark “Red” Scott, and Sage Bolyard have been busy constructing a new addition for the event. The work with many of park’s locals also involved, isn’t so pretty, but in the true renegade spirit of all that Burnside was originally built upon two decades ago, that’s absolutely the way it should be – DIY, dirty, gritty, unique, unrefined, but highly functional…built by skaters.
Jay Meer has reportedly giving the park an all-new paint job and things are set for the Halloween Hellraier. For a full photo breakdown from Bryce Kanights click the link below.

But this time the show will includes “several never before seen collaborations” with Shepard Fairey.
Weezy appears to be doing his part for the action sports economy with few references dropped in his song Bill Gatesfrom theI Am Not A Human Being album.
Vans, Tony Hawk, and Shaun White all get props. Here are just a few select rhymes from different verses:
“Skinny ass pants, Fresh pair of Vans, If you n-ggas keep trippin’ n-gga share an ambulance”
“All day I do it, I do it like Tony, Got a sign on my dick that say “bad bitches only””
“Dress like a skater, ride on you like Shaun White, I’m high all day, you can call that shit a long flight”
