The ultimate skate shoe history book, Made For Skate, is now an iPad app. For those who’ve never seen the book, or worn out the print version, this app comes as a welcome e-relief. It is absolutely FREE. If we had an iPad we’d download it right now. Guess we’ll have to wait until we’re at Grandma’s house.

Fabrizio Santos KLeNs Up

by The Editors on May 24, 2011

WelcomefabrizioFabrizio Santos, one of the friendliest guys in skateboarding, has signed on to represent KLeN Laundry.

A fun loving, outgoing and engaging personality, the Breeze has a style of skating all his own: smooth, fluid and explosive wrapped into one. Fabrizio cruises the streets and skate parks alike with dreadlocks flying wild, but always in complete control of the board under his feet. Breeze finished last year with an 8th place ranking on the Dew Tour and most recently had a strong showing at Ryan Sheckler’s Skate For A Cause event in Lake Forest.

by The Editors on May 23, 2011

He was taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Medical Center and was reportedly in critical condition. . . Ryan Howell, 33, [the driver] was booked on suspicion of felony driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, deputies said.

Sadly, Culhane is now just one more of story on this growing list of people who didn’t know. Hopefully, he will recover.

The Chase Is On At Altamont

by The Editors on May 18, 2011

Altamont Chase

Heralded LA street muralist Chase has apparently decided that after creating images for Adidas, Levi’s, Scion, Acura, Bloomingdale’s, and Western Union it’s time he started slumming and do some work for a skateboard clothing company. He chose Altamont.

Chase explains, “The stencil that I used for the “Nothing To It But To Do It” t-shirt is one of my main messages. It’s a message that is based on skateboarding, and it’s a valuable life lesson. Skateboarding taught me that, and I live by that motto every day. “The Messenger” graphic is one that Andrew Reynolds really liked. It’s a collection of the positive quotes. It serves as a reminder, right before you put it on in the morning, so you have a nice thing on your mind for the rest of the day.

Knock OutWhen a group of Portland, Oregon skateboarders saw a man threatening his ex-girlfriend with an ice pick they stepped in and knocked the guy out, according to a story on Fox 12.

. . . the group of skateboarders spotted the man harassing the woman, who was in her car, at the east end of the Morrison Bridge at about 6:45 p.m. Monday.
