As more evidence that longboarding is its own brand of skateboarding comes The Longboard Expo to be held January 5-6, 2012 at the Hilton Long Beach in Long Beach, California.
This show is focused on bringing brands and buyers together in one place to conduct business in professional environment. The time is right for a truly focused show that celebrates the innovations found within longboarding.
Beginning tomorrow (Saturday, September 3, 2011) at 9 AM PDT the Maloof Money Cup DC will be streaming the entire event live on their Youtube channel.
Watch the best Pro and Am skaters in the world compete on a brand new concrete plaza built to last in the heart of D.C. The top prize for the pro division is $160,000.

Depending on how you look at it, Andrew Keel’sMotocrossboard is either either a two-wheeled, motorized, dirtboard or a very small, light motorcycle that you stand on sideways. Either way it appears to be another strange way to roll through the woods standing sideways.
Sometimes there’s nothing better to clear our heads on a Tuesday morning than a little hesh skate session from NorCal. The San Diego, California based Typical Culture site pulled this clip together from Toad & Salmon’s 7th Annual Chili Bowl contest at San Francisco’s Potrero del Sol Skatepark. Oakland and Emeryville skaters like Alex Fatemi saw all their work at The Spot destroyed as Caltrans brought in the bulldozers and removed their DIY skatepark citing the usual “liability issues,” according to a story on KGO.
There had been hope of leaving the spot open and perhaps working out a deal with Caltrans. But skateboarders say, with redevelopment agencies on the way out and the economy what it is, officials in Oakland and Emeryville were unable to come up with the money for the $5,000 per month lease that Caltrans wanted.
So another DIY park will revert to it’s previous life as a place for trash (both human and garbage) to pile up, and the skateboarders will be back out in the streets.
Thanks to the approach of Hurricane Irene Rob Dyrdek has moved the Street League New Jersey finals up to tomorrow (Saturday, August 27, 2011).
In response to Hurricane Irene, please note that the Street League Skateboarding Championship event at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ that was originally scheduled for this Sunday is being moved one day earlier to tomorrow, Saturday, August 27th at 3pm. Tickets will be honored for the new date and doors for the public will open at 2pm. Refunds for ticket holders who cannot make the new date, will be available at the point of purchase beginning on Monday. The championship broadcast will still air at its original time-slot at 5PM ET on August 28th.
The finals of the Maloof Money Cup Best Line Competition were held yesterday (August 23, 2011) at the Magic Trade Show in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Ronnie Creager rolled away with first place and $10,000 in cash for a line that included a “smith grind 270 out, a switchtail 270 out to a switchcrook half-cab flipout.”
Not bad. Morgan Smith and Kurtis Colamonico finished in second and third.

The Maloof Money Cup announced it Pro and Am roster for the Washington, D.C. event September 3-4, 2011 at RFK Stadium’s Festival Grounds and it is stacked.
Geoff Rowley, Andrew Reynolds, and Dennis Busenitz on on the list, plus Greg Lutzka is going to defend his title going after what Maloof is calling the “richest purse in skateboarding.” Take that Street League. Top skaters from this even are going to Africa for the World Championships, apparently.
Skaters who finish in the top 16 based on combined scores from New York and D.C., will earn a spot on the Maloof All Pros, which was started by Joe Maloof this year to recognize the top skateboarders in the world, and send them to the Maloof Money Cup World Championships in Kimberley, South Africa Sept. 28-Oct 2.
SUPRA has signed Neen Wiliams to their team so he can skate full time in the Skytop III.
“They’re really good to skate in,” Neen said about the Skytop III. “It takes the ‘pact real nice. You can jump down whatever you want and it won’t fuck up your feet or your heels.”
