Sunday (December 11, 2011) was a big day in Los Angeles skateboarding thanks to the Real, Four Star and Nike SB. Yeah, the big news was that Ishod Wair is all pro. But there’s more. Here’s a little clip from Sebastian Estrada.
Don’t think that the major leaguers don’t pay their dues every single day of the week. Here’s a little behind the scenes from Nyjah Huston’s 24 rail in Rise & Shine.
The highly anticipated line of uniquely designed apparel was inspired by Lil Wayne’s passion for skateboarding and quality street wear. Pulling influence from Lil Wayne’s distinctive style and voice, Trukfit is made from quality fabrics and features bold graphics at a moderate price point.
Trukfit will debut at the Agenda Show January 5-7, 2012 in Long Beach, California.
Tony Hawk brings things back to some familiar terrain with the tease of his newest video game Tony Hawk Pro Skater HD. We’ve always loved that old warehouse with the vert ramp, the quarters around the edges, so it’s good to see it back in a more updated form. Yes, we’re looking forward to this. We bought our first Playstation for Tony Hawk Pro Skater, this new version may be reason enough to update.

Seems like only yesterday (Spring 2008) that kids were lining up along LA’s Melrose Avenue to get their chance to meet the DC skateboarding team at the grand opening of DC Shoe’s LA Flagship store.
Apparently, those heady days of Melrose ego retailing are over for Quiksilver’s footwear brand. The phone has been disconnected, the store is no longer listed on the DC store locator, and according to a DC retail employee the flag has been down “about a month.” We must have missed that press release.
The gaming sites are all charged up over a tweet Tony Hawk sent out to followers on December 6, 2011. It went a little like this:
I’ll be announcing the upcoming release of something new on Sat; the same day as the Spike Video Game Awards. Coincidence? I think not.
G4TV think this means Tony Hawk is going to breathe new life into his struggling video game franchise saying:
“Gamers haven’t seen much of the Tony Hawk series lately, and we’re probably all okay with that. The last Hawk game was Ride, a noble, yet poorly conceived, effort that put gamers on a wheel-less skateboard peripheral (and, more frequently, on their posteriors).”
Artist Ron Cameron whom most skateboarders know for his Blockhead Skateboards graphic Nothing Is Cool and his founding design work with the clothing brand RVCA, has a solo art show opening Sunday, December 11, 2011 at Epidemic in Palm Desert, California.
And if you’re really into making a day out of it follow the jump for even more skateboarding action at the Palm Springs Skateparks. [click to continue…]
The Bones Brigade: An Autobiography documentary will be premiering next month at the Sundance Film Festival and though it’s not his first trip though the cold streets of Park City, Stacy Peralta still seems honestly enthusiastic about the whole game, according to an interview with Colin Bane on ESPN.com/Action.
Even though this is my fourth time, it’s just as exciting as my first time. Sundance is important to me because I’m not a big fish. I’m a small fish in the world of filmmaking and it’s really, really difficult to get attention for independent films and documentary films. When you get accepted into Sundance knowing that 10,000 other films from all over the world were trying to get into this festival at the same time, and yours got selected, it gives a certain cachet and importance to your film. It gives your film a blessing, in a sense. Instantly, here’s all this attention on your little film and it gives you a chance.
We’re just looking forward to seeing the boys back together one more time.
