NZ Skateboarder Dies During Downhill Race

by The Editors on April 16, 2012

6752876James Robert Eising, 18, of Mt. Eden, New Zealand died after falling in on organized downhill skateboarding race in Birkenhead, New Zealand.

James was one of about 200 people who were scheduled to skate-board down Colonial Rd – a windy and steep road that leads to the Chelsea sugar refinery. . . [Eiseing] was the last in his group and was going about 40km/h. There is a sharp right-hand corner and the first three skidded around but managed to negotiate the corner. The deceased then lost control of his board, skidded, spun in the air and cartwheeled and then crashed on to his head.”

Eising was wearing a helmet and full pads. Our thoughts are with Eising’s friends and especially with his parents and two sisters.

Billabong City Squared Skateboarding Invitational

by The Editors on April 15, 2012

Sam Giles Back Smith-W570-H937

Blake Harris won the Billabong’s City Squared street skateboarding event at Queensbridge Square on Melbourne’s Southbank on Sunday April 15, 2012.

“It was good, I’m pretty happy, it’s been a good day. This thing (the obstacle) is deadly, the hub bas were pretty nice, but the box was pretty dangerous, I’m glad to be walking away. I got smashed earlier on a normal nose blunt, but apart from that I’m okay, everyone was shredding… good times. I’m definitely happy, this was definitely one of the top competition wins I’ve had,” Harris said after his win.

Danny Way’s Hawaiian Island Mega Ramp

by The Editors on April 11, 2012

Apparently, Danny Way’s ten-year-old dream has been to build his very own Mega ramp in at his house in Kauai. Looks like he’s finally done it.

Here’s the story of how Danny rediscovered his dream and brought to life this never before been constructed ramp he envisioned a decade ago.

Sadly, to see the results of this dream you’ll have to see his movie Waiting for Lightning, because this is just a teaser.

Lightning Strikes In Hollywood. . . Yes Way

by The Editors on April 11, 2012

Celebpix0411 011.Sjpg 900 540 0 95 1 50 50Last night, April 10, 2012, most everyone was in Hollywood for the premiere of the Danny Way bio-pic Waiting For Lightning at the ArcLight Cinerama Dome.

Following the premiere everyone rolled over to the for an after party at The Roosevelt Hotel.

If you (like us) missed the movie and all the Hollywood celebrity action, just click right here to see all the photos of stars like Danny Way and his Mom (above), Ken Block, Tommy Lee, The Dingo, Johnny Knoxville, Daryl Hannah, Steve-O, and Adriana Patridge.

We’re guessing there were some skaters there as well, but not many of them made the red carpet cut it seems.

Longboarder Screws Up Bank Robbery

by The Editors on April 9, 2012

600Leave it to a longboarding bank robber to put on a wig, a San Diego Padres snapback, and roll into a Wells Fargo bank only to hair out at the last minute and walk out. That’s what happened on Saturday, April 7, 2012 in La Jolla, California according to a story on KTLA.com.

The man walked into the Wells Fargo branch at 7714 Girard Ave. in La Jolla at about 1:38 p.m., the FBI said. He handed a demand note to a teller. The teller looked at the note and then at the man. The would-be robber may have panicked at that point, because he grabbed back the note and walked out of the bank. . . No money was taken and no one was injured in the robbery attempt.

The man, who police described as in his mid-30s or early 40s and white, may have had a last minute change of heart. Sad it couldn’t have happened three minutes before he walked into the bank.
