On Halloween we jokingly commented that while we enjoyed TAVIK’s Shreddie Munster edit, it was missing their bikinis. Well, that comment obviously didn’t go unnoticed and TAVIK’s Nicole Kegley sent us this little “Pinapple Samba” edit featuring model Sahara Ray two pineapples and a really big knife, saying: “I mean a hot girl, tropical fruit, and a machete- whats not to love!” Well, nothing we guess.

Yes, pro snowboarders get paid to wear the clothes they wear, but sometimes it’s interesting to hear them explain just why they like to wear what they wear. In this edit Alex Yoder explains the Patagonia Untracked Kit and he makes it sound pretty good.

Rodney Mullen is becoming a favorite on the TED lecture circuit for all kinds of reason. Mostly, we think, because he is interesting to listen to (and watch) no matter what he is saying. Watching Mullen talk makes us feel like only a tiny sliver of what he’s thinking is making it out and that alone keeps us hanging, waiting for what he could possibly say next. In this talk from the TEDx OrangeCoast Rodney talking about getting up after being down. Check it.

Z-Flex Skateboards is bringing back their original fiberglass boards. To celebrate the launch the Z-Flex Vintage Premium Series they had Jon Holland shoot and edit a two-part documentary series diving into the history of the legendary, iconographic skateboards.
The two part mini-documentary series is a reflection of the beginning of skateboarding told through the eyes of the legends that pioneered what we know as skateboarding today. Jay Adams, Tony Alva, Duane Peters, Marty Grimes and Jimmy Plumer (to name a few) join moderator for the day- Steve Olsen to reminisce on a time period and a story so many have tried to tell. Reflecting on style, spots, products, and the radical nature of the Z-Flex team, the two part series takes you back in time and retells the popular story of growing up and skating Dog Town from the guys who lived it.
The limited and numbered edition boards will come in a “collectors display box” with a Z-Flex bandana and commemorative booklet. If you want one better get on the program only 300 of each will be produced. For the official word from Z-Flex follow the jump. [click to continue…]

You probably don’t need a new snowboard this season (who really does?) But if you’re going to buy one, it’s best to buy one from a real snowboarding company. Take Venture Snowboards for instance. Their boards are made in the heart of the mountains by snowboarders, not by starving factory workers in China. And that’s probably a good thing.

Still remembering Buttons. Here’s an edit from 2007 in which Buttons Kaluhiokalani lays out some of his past problems straight up and reminds everyone to take it one day at a time. Buttons uploaded videos to his Hot Buttons Youtube Channel for nearly two years before stopping in 2008.

It goes a little something like this:
Ethan Morgan, Mario Kaeppeli and Flo Corzelius, three unemployed snowboarders trying’ to make it from rags to riches and Russian bitches by risking their health to get nasty stitches. That’s what they do. . . There are a few other homeboys in there, too: Peter Koenig, Mario Wanger, Tom Klocker, Simon Pircher, Raffael Kossmann and Daniel Diedrich.
And yeah, it is time to snowboard.

As Steve Grover says, “The park still goes off all the time but Halloween is reserved for serious ripping.” Yep.
