Gotta love it when two of our favorite, dashing, world traveling surf men get together to compare not size but volume. Beach Grit’s Chas Smith stopped by Matt Biolos‘ San Clemente, California headquarters to dunk some boards in a barrel of water and remind us all that volume matters.

Jenkem follows New Jersey skateboarder Kevin (insta @NYRampCo) on one of his missions into NYC with his portable, pop-up skatepark.
On his off days, Kevin loads up his van and makes the hour trek from Jersey into the city with homemade boxes, rails and kickers, where he creates pop up skateparks. His obstacles are open for anyone to skate and organized purely for the love, which is why it feels like Christmas when he happens to stop by your area.
How’s that for bringing smiles?

You have to wonder how the Tampa Police Department can protect its citizens when their officers can’t even throw a waif of a 15-year-old kid on the ground without tripping themselves and falling in the gutter. Seriously. Is that cop impaired?
The teen is 15 years old, stands about 5’4″ and weighs maybe 120 pounds, said Patrick van Kampen, 18, who was part of about a dozen skateboarders skating on a public street that was closed off to traffic in downtown Tampa on Saturday. He also said there were no signs forbidding skateboarding.
It seems like cops are always roughest on the people who can’t fight back. Cop #1 is likely blaming the kid (who was reportedly held for 12 hours) for his sore back. For more on the story, click the link.

Vans threw their biggest party of the year this weekend (12th Annual Vans Pool Party, May 13-15, 2016) and Lance Mountain, Pedro Barros, and Darren Navarette walked away the weekend’s biggest winners.
Underlining an epic journey of Combi pool domination, the unstoppable Pedro Barros demonstrated another breathtaking feat of talent, blasting through huge airs in lightning fast runs to win his third Pool Party championship title to date. Rising star and pool ripper Cory Juneau sneaks in second with a game-changing final run, while Bucky Lasek utilized a clean, technical approach to secure third. Finally, closing out the Masters division, Darren Navarette took flight and put together a flawless run in classic Navs style, ousting last year’s winner Bruno Passos.
