Was it the iconic Go Skateboarding Day image that caused all this? Or, could it be that Southern California traffic has gotten so bad that people refuse to simply sit in their cars for hours at a time. Having had personal experience with the California Highway Patrol and their strangely flawed belief that they do indeed personally own the freeways of California we can say this, just don’t get caught. If you don’t believe us, ask Don Brown.
Gabriel Medina never has to be alone in the shallows again thanks to a new smart surfboard from Samsung. Checking email from the lineup has never looked so smooth.
Don’t even think that the only parties Vans throws are in high and dry swimming pools. No, they throw house parties, too. And the this summer run of parties kicks off on May 19, 2016 with Jon Hopkins, The Black Madonna, and The Field at The House of Vans Brooklyn.
In partnership with FYF, the 2016 Vans House Parties offer a rare opportunity to experience some of the best live music programming out there in a truly unique and historical art setting that celebrates Vans’ rich “Off The Wall” heritage in one of the most culturally diverse cities in the world.
And to us it’s just a great free show. For the official word from Vans (and how to RSVP), click the link. [click to continue…]
It’s turning into a board movie summer. Here’s a tease of the film The Land produced by Nas and pretty well received at Sundance, according to a story on The Root.
The movie follows the turbulent lives of four teens who have aspirations of becoming professional skateboarders but who find that the streets of Cleveland aren’t the easiest to break from. Lendeborg stars as Cisco, a teen who uses skateboarding as an escape mechanism but lands in trouble with his friends when they steal and sell Molly (the drug) to raise money for a skateboarding competition.
The film stars The Wire’s Michael K. Williams, Erykah Badu, Machine Gun Kelly and Sons of Anarchy’s Kim Coates, along with Jorge Lendeborg Jr. The Land is scheduled to be released on July 29, 2016.
Not really sure how things could be worse for GoPro. They’ve announced terrible first quarter results and delayed launching their next big product, the Karma drone, according to a story on The Verge.
[GoPro] saw its revenue drop by 49.5 percent from the same period in 2015, and it swung from a $22 million profit to a $121 million loss. The company also announced that its new drone, the Karma, will be delayed until the winter holiday. It was originally slated to be released in the first half of this year.
In this new girl-out-of-water story Blake Lively stars as surfer girl Nancy who gets hit by a shark while surfing in paradise and then must struggle to survive.
Though she is stranded only 200 yards from shore, survival proves to be the ultimate test of wills, requiring all of Nancy’s ingenuity, resourcefulness, and fortitude.
We’re guessing viewers will need similar skills just to sit through The Shallows, but who knows maybe it will surprise us. The film opens in North America on June 29, 2016.
