Former Transworld Snowboarding Managing Editor, Dew Tour Content Director and all-around amazing human Gerhard Gross and his family could use a little help from the action sports community right now. Here’s the story:
Last Christmas, Gerhard was given 12 months to live with stage 4 stomach cancer — a devastating diagnosis only 4% of people survive. Determined that that 4% would be him, he made immediate changes to his diet, started meditation, yoga, and practiced every holistic treatment he could in addition to chemotherapy.
Thankfully, Gerhard is still with us. But as is the case so often with Cancer, there have been many ups and downs for Gerhard, his wife Kristen, and their 18-month-old baby boy Gerhard IV. To help the family get through these rough times a little more easily, friends have started a GoFundMe page. Click here to do what you can, or follow the jump for the whole story.

On Saturday, November 11, 2017 A Walk On Water (a California-based nonprofit surf therapy organization) held a day of surf therapy for more than 115 special needs children and adults along with their families at Malibu’s Surfrider Beach. The Red Hot Chili Peppers’Anthony Kedis and pro surfer Courtney Conlogue even showed up for the celebration.
Over 115+ athletes participated in surf therapy heats, 200 volunteers and 40 experienced instructors who helped them safely navigate the waves and guided them safely in and out of the ocean. Families, supporters, partners and media filled the beach to cheer on these athletes as they rode some of the most ideal waves and experienced the most beautiful weather conditions than we could’ve imagined. . . The athletes along with their families enjoyed a day of positive energy, cheers, some tears of happiness, restoration and experienced the true healing powers of the ocean.

Here’s the first chair proof. And by the size of that Mammoth line, we’re guessing these four had to camp out to get it. From other photos we’ve seen, coverage is a little thin. But there are a few “features” in the park so what more do we really need?

Stop us if we’d said this before, but we’d put Boa on all our shoes just to get rid of bulky, unsightly laces. That’s part of the reason why Vans’ new Verse snowboard boots look so good.
Offering extensive technical range and precision across two different lacing zones, the Verse is formulated with the Boa® Custom Focus Plus system, allowing for double optimization in and around the boot. Paired with Vans’ adjustable Custom Slide-Guide, the Verse provides maximum heel-hold and a more personalized, comfortable fit. The Verse lacing system is also protected by a waterproof zip-up shroud to seal the lower portion of the boot from the elements, keeping your feet dry during long days on snow. Complete with heat-moldable Custom Liners and UltraCush V3 footbeds, this versatile all-mountain snowboard boot features Vans’ new lightweight and responsive Ultimate Waffle outsole that offers first-rate heel dampening and asymmetrical arch support.
Sounds like a good pair of boots. For the rest of the features (and photos), please follow the jump.
