NYC Street Jeep Wake Snowboarding

by The Editors on February 14, 2014

While the city of New York was digging out from another savage winter storm Casey Neistat took to the streets behind his jeep to get some snowboarding done. And yes, he didn’t leave it up to any one else because he is most definitely that guy.

by The Editors on February 13, 2014

Leticiabufoni4

We’ve seen Leticia Bufoni skate and she kills. She’s won the women’s World Cup State street title four times. Now, she’s dropping a little something else in the pages of Men’s Health & Fitness Brazil. “Confira maid foots da garota MH de fevereiro,” it says. Apparently, that means “Check out more photos of the MH February Girl.” So we did and we’re having a rough time connecting these photos with the girl we used to see bombing the street course in black jeans, a tank top, and a black bandana . . click the link for the rest .

iPod Plugs In To Olympic Gold In Sochi

by The Editors on February 11, 2014

Olympicpod

The pipe at Sochi’s Rosa Khutor Extreme Park was reportedly terrible, possibly the worst Olympic Halfpipe since the debut of snowboarding in the 1998 Nagano Olympics. But 12 snowboarders soldiered on through the sugar and sand flats, over holes in the walls, and three of them prevailed on Tuesday night, February 11, 2014. Sadly for US fans it wasn’t the American dream team let by two-time Gold Medalist Shaun White. It was the Swiss and Japanese.

While Americans Danny Davis, Greg Bretz, and Shaun White where shaken by the rough pipe in both their final runs, Iouri Podladtchikov and Japan’s Ayumu Hirano put down two solid runs (their second runs scoring highest) and Taku Hiraoka pulled it out in a clutch second run save. Luckily, the judging didn’t seem to be a factor at all (for once). Follow the jump for complete results. [click to continue…]

Goldie Surfer Speared In Surf Rage

by The Editors on February 10, 2014

698102-D113D47C-9068-11E3-B83B-4946Ef7Bdce3Gold Coast surfer and professional abalone diver Mark Morlock, 41, could lose his right eye after an attack he calls the “most brutal and cowardly thing I’ve ever seen,” according to a story in the Courier-Mail. Another surfer fired his board directly into Morlock’s face stabbing him in the eye while the two were at Snapper Rocks.

He said a fellow surfer who he unwittingly cut off on a wave at the same break about five months ago confronted him. . . “I heard a voice behind me go ‘hey you’ and I’ve turned around and he goes ‘you remember me?’,” Mr Morlock said. . . “I said ‘yeah I remember you, what do you want?’. Then he let his board go from between his legs, straight into my face. He said ‘you’re not laughing now, are you mate?’

Morlock has reportedly undergone 12 hours of micro surgery to save the eye and the offender is described as a “notorious troublemaker.”

20plus Years of Jody Morris Skate Photos

by The Editors on February 10, 2014

Legendary skateboard photographer Jody Morris has collected his photos into an elegant, lovely hard bound book titled 20plus. Featuring photos from two decades of skateboarding 20plus is a necessary addition to every skate library.
Here’s what skateboarding documentarian Sean Mortimer has to say about the book:

Morris’ unifying love of skating is clearly seen through his images as Skid Row skaters are snapped alongside legends like Tony Hawk and Danny Way. Morris’ close relationship with his subjects allows for rare images of iconic skaters lounging in graffiti scrawled tour vans, shredding abandoned buildings, avoiding dessert dust storms. . . It’s Morris’ rare ability to blend the culture into the action that makes him one of the most sought after action sports photographers. With over 70 magazine covers to his name, 20 PLUS is loaded with definitive images from an insulated culture.

20plus is available online at Half Acre Paper for $39.95. Click the link to purchase, or follow the jump for more info. [click to continue…]
