After his last girlfriend Cheyenne “where the bloody hell are you” Tozzi ran off with American oil playboy Brandon Davis many in the Australian gossip scene thought Taj Burrow would never recover. He was reportedly beside himself with anger. “F . . ., I can’t even think straight. I’ve seen so many photos of her with that c . . .. I can’t get it out of my head,” Burrow ranted to surf mag Stab.
Luckily, he’s found “PR whiz” Sara Bray. It’s good to know Taj keeps those sets rolling in.

According to News.com.au:
It has been described as the world’s largest rubbish dump, or the Pacific plastic soup, and it is starting to alarm scientists.
It is a vast area of plastic debris and other flotsam drifting in the northern Pacific Ocean, held there by swirling ocean currents.
Discovered in 1997 by American sailor Charles Moore, what is also called the great Pacific garbage patch is now alarming some with its ever-growing size and possible impact on human health.
The “patch” is in fact two massive, linked areas of circulating rubbish, says Dr Marcus Eriksen, research director of the US-based Algalita Marine Research Foundation, founded by Moore.

According to Electronic Arts CFO Warren Jenson EA’s Skate video game is out-selling Tony Hawk Pro Skater.
CFO Warren Jensen boasted: “Despite the fact we launched on three fewer platforms, Skate outsold Tony Hawk 2 to 1.”
We haven’t played it so we don’t know if we believe him. Anyone care to comment?

Yes, sometimes the glamorous life of pro snowboarding just isn’t enough. But apparently, Christ can made the difference, at least that’s what Kelly Clark says:
Most notable among them is Kelly Clark, who came to her newfound spirituality at the top of her game. As she tells it, she was the best snowboarder in the world. A gold medal from the 2002 Winter Olympics adorned her neck. Sponsors were courting her.
But something was missing. She tried to fill the hole with partying, acting out, more snowboarding. Still she felt “hollow.”
Then she overheard a fellow competitor say something to comfort another rider who had just posted a disappointing performance.
“Don’t worry about it. God still loves you,” Clark heard the competitor say.
Four years later, Clark is still the queen of snowboarding, a medal-harvesting pipe rider whose talents send her flying higher than any other woman in the sport.
But the dopiest comment of the story comes from hippy Hannah Teter:
“I just express it with meditation, yoga and candles,” says Teter, who earned Olympic gold in Turin’s 2006 Winter Games. “I always carry a crystal when I ride, and I do the whole centering thing before a contest.”
Oh yeah, that whole “centered” thing. We know it well.

Seems like the media always takes the same tack with Jack. How could a laid back surfer become a musical powerhouse. Though the obvious answer is: because he creates beautiful music. That’s never enough for a full features in a newspaper. Here, the Times UK’s Robin Eggar interviews Jack Johnson and attempts to make sense of it all.
The first time Jack Johnson made voluntary eye contact with me was the fourth time we met. A couple of glasses of red wine over dinner loosened his tongue from the reserved to the discreet. It’s not that he’s rude – he is painstakingly polite – it’s just that he may be the shyest superstar alive.

From EXPN.com:
How cowboy is your mountain town? Before Jackson Hole’s world-class riding and fancy resort-type attractions surfaced, there were cattle and cowboys. Wyoming has plenty of both, in fact. You could even argue that Travis Rice, the brains behind Natural Selection, is a bit of a rodeo star himself.

From the Bucks Free Press:
Up To 40 protesters gathered on the streets of High Wycombe today, upset at the police’s handling of a recent street brawl.
The group, who were mostly Asian but with members of the white and West Indian community in the crowd, converged opposite the police station in Queen Victoria Road.
The group stood outside cheering and passing motorists beeped their horns in support.
Police have not yet commented on today’s protest, but Supt Rob Angell has told the Bucks Free Press that last Saturday’s incident was a “low-level” event which began after a misunderstanding over a skateboard.

Ryan Stassel, 15, looks like he could be on his way to super snowboard stardom according to the Anchorage Daily News.
The world is in his hands right now,” said Puckett, head coach of the Big Alaska Snowboard and Freeski Club, a nonprofit that offers competitions sanctioned by the United States of America Snowboard Association. “We’re seeing a generation of snowboarders who grew up with parents who snowboarded, and now we have 15-year-olds like Ryan close to winning events.”

10:15 PM: And the show ends with someone getting on the mic after the video went dead saying, “Tech nine is here, too. We’re rad. We’ve got MFM and. . . fuck you.” And with that, the show ended.
9:44 PM: What do you know. . . it’s rolling and it’s dope. Well worth the wait. Check it, click the link at the bottom of this post. Hopefully, they will post the whole thing so we can catch it again on our own time.
9:28 PM: Still no “Live webcast,” but here’s the latest update from Liam is as follows: “The man in charge, Mr. Hoy and the online president Evan LeFebvre are missing in action, but the bird call is out and once Big Ev and Kurt find their way to the stage things are going to go off.” They probably bagged the show and hit the tables.
9:10 PM: Twenty minutes ago Liam blogged that the show would be starting in 10 minutes. Seems like two hours would be enough time to bring in a satellite truck and beam this thing from Mars. Apparently not in Las Vegas.
8:52 PM: Still nothing but blank screen. At 8:35 PM Liam blogged the following: Things are about to get underway. Everyone’s getting good and tuned up. In general people are looking way more handsome than usual and now that we’ve all been in Vegas for a few days we’re all primed and ready. Hell of a night for a party.” Let’s hope something happens. Maybe the start time was 7:30 Hawaiian Island Time.
8:19 PM: After a couple short interviews by Annie Fast with Lil Jon and The Dingo, and a Andreas Wiig interview by Online Evan at about 8:00 PM the screen went black and we haven’t seen a thing yet. Like no live broadcast of anything.
7:53 PM: Well, it was supposed to have started 20 minutes ago, but you haven’t missed anything yet because they haven’t rolled anything but a “Testing, snow. Testing IBN Sports.”
Tune your browsers to the IBNSports Network and watch the Transworld Snowboarding Riders Poll live (maybe) from the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada.
We’ll keep you posted if and when this live webcast goes off.
