Max and Eddie have finally achieved their dream of managing a successful snowboarding team, but as the party atmosphere heats up, the temptation to run wild takes hold. Now that the team is a success, Max and Eddie are rolling in cash. But sometimes success makes us lose sight of the things that matter most, and forget how we soared to such heights in the first place. Realizing that they’re suddenly at risk of losing everything they’ve worked so to hard to create, these two reformed slackers fight to save their team and take back the mountain.

Not that we’re on some daytime TV kick lately but on Wednesday May 13, 2009 Shaun White will be on the Bonnie Hunt Show. We believe it’s called a “talk show.” What will Shaun and the star of Jumanji talk about in front of an audience of 54-year-old women?
According to Bonnie’s website they will discuss “his cause and how he’s helping kids.” How does Shaun feel about his appearance on the show?
“Hi I’m Shaun White . . . and I’m really excited to have this opportunity.”
Watching the promo clip with its laugh track, and fake livingroom set makes us realize how terminally far our media viewing habits have gotten from the average TV viewing population. It’s kind of frightening, actually.
It’s difficult for us to talk any smack about any of this because some of these guys (way back in the day) helped make us think surfing was cool. Lewis Samuels, not surprisingly, has a little different take on the new autobiographical documentary Echo Beach.
The Echo Beach crew taught the brands that they didn’t need to sponsor and support the best surfers on earth. Instead, they could simply sponsor and support the best groms in Newport. Or, more specifically, the “most influential” groms within a 100-yard stretch of Newport. . . So without the Echo Beach Crew, I suppose Alex Knost would not be a surf star. Case closed.

Former Alpine snowboard racer Jeff Archiblad and US Team SBX coach was named 2009 Snowboarding International Coach of the Year by the United States Ski and Snowboard Association and will be honored at an awards dinner on May 15, 2009 in Park City.
“Our SBX program had an unbelievable season. Strong coaching and leadership are key components to that success,” U.S. Snowboarding Program Director Jeremy Forster said. “Jeff has been instrumental in building the SBX program. As a former World Cup competitor his ability to relate to the athletes and his respect for and from the athletes are invaluable to the progress we have made.”

Maverick’s founder Jeff Clark is reportedly on the mend after having his hip resurfaced with Titanium, according to a story in the San Jose Mercury News.
Fresh out of surgery, Clark is on the mend, taking it easy at his house overlooking the break at Maverick’s in Half Moon Bay. To keep himself occupied and focused on recovery, Clark has created a blog to document his healing process. The site, rebuildjeffclark.blogspot.com, contains up-to-date journal entries, photos, as well as a link to an animated depiction of his surgery, which takes viewers through the entire procedure step by step.
Not only that, the blog gives groms a sneak peak into their own futures and the reality that getting old sucks.

As creditors rifle through former Billabong CEO Matthew Perrin’s estate his wife Nicole Perrin is now claiming that she didn’t sign several documents and that they must have been forged, according to a story in the Sydney Morning Herald.
Mrs Perrin made the claim in a restraining order she has sought to stop the bank repossessing her $15 million Surfers Paradise mansion. The bank is trying to recoup $13.5 million Mr Perrin borrowed against the family home and a Mermaid Beach apartment last year. . . Lawyers for Mrs Perrin argue that as the signatures on the loan documents are a “counterfeit forgery”, the mortgages and guarantees are “mere nullities having no legal force or effect”. It is alleged the signatures of Mr Perrin’s brother Fraser Perrin, a Gold Coast solicitor who “witnessed” Mrs Perrin’s signatures, are also fake.
Nicole reportedly bought the house with money from her personal sales of 13 million shares of Billabong stock and never signed it over to anyone. This might buy her at least a couple more weeks in the house, huh?

Sales to Pacific Sunwear increased 21.8%, or $1.5 million, for the three months ended March 31, 2009 compared to the three months ended March 31, 2008. We currently expect a decrease in 2009 revenue from Pacific Sunwear compared to 2008. It is unclear where our sales to Pacific Sunwear will trend in the longer term.

For all the glee we feel at the demise of print publications there are times when we do actually back print. Concussion Magazine has always been a magazine pretty much beyond criticism. It was raw, honest, straight-forward, and had no problem running pictures of naked girls.
Regular photo contributors Brendan Kline and Brooks Fritz have in effect taken over the publication of Concussion. Davoud and Jonathan are still there in an advisory capacity, or as “training wheels” as they say, for a couple issues.
Rocking good news. And with Brendan behind the wheel we know the magazine is only going to get better.
