While jetting through the Sydney International Airport Empire Ave.’s Lincoln spotted this little Nixon Sound Lounge, according to a post on the blog.
I guess you could call it a pop up store in a word, but fuck it was impressive! So the set up basically gives you the complete Nixon experience and seeing so many of Nixon’s products tie in with traveling, it seemed a no brainer to put this little gem together! . . One side is devoted to bringing the noise, headphones silly! While the other is all about telling the time! Whilst trying out various styles from their latest headphone collection, your nestled up on a comfortable couch watching the odd clip or two on the TV. Then you do a 360 and on the other side there is close to a complete range of their latest and greatest timepiece offerings.
Looks like a nice spot to rest up before diving into wilds of the Goldie for sure. Click the link for more photos.
Henry A. Langhaim II, 19, was riding his skateboard down Southwest Autumnview Street in Bull Mountain, Oregon when one of his wheels reportedly came off causing him to crash, according to a story in the Tualatin Times.
Neighbors who witnessed the crash had started CPR immediately, but medical personnel were unable to revive Langhaim after transporting him to Legacy Emanuel Hospital. He died of a head injury sustained from the crash. . . After taking witness statements and examining his skateboard, Sheriff’s deputies determined that Langhaim was riding down Southwest Autumnview Street — which has a steep incline — when a wheel detached from the skateboard he was riding. Deputies figure he most likely struck his head on the sidewalk.
Langhaim was not wearing a helmet. Our thoughts are with Langhaim’s family and friends.
At fist we thought this was a joke. Aren’t the Catholics in enough trouble with kids already? But it’s not. Australia’s Friar Gabriel M. Cortes is for real according to a story on Catholic.com.
In addition to his missionary work, Friar Gabriel is involved in community efforts with the local government, the Shire of Toodyay. He serves on the Crime Prevention Committee as well as a committee to design and build local skate parks.
Stories of Stab Magazine and racism are fast becoming cliché. In the most recent episode Mick Fanning’s lawyers asked Stab to pull their January/February issue off newsstands due to a few culturally problematic quotes from the current world champ.
The issue features a Charlie Smith story titled Tales of a Fucking Jew in which Fanning is reportedly quoted making similarly anti-semitic comments directed at Smith (pictured left) in December 2009 at a Rip Curl party celebrating Mick’s 2010 ASP world title win.
According to a story in The AustralianStab publisher Sam McIntosh has complied with the request and the issue is no longer available.
He said Stab had acceded to a request from Fanning’s lawyers to pull the issue from newsstands, but not for legal reasons. . . He said the decision was motivated by a desire to maintain good relations with the surfer and only after Fanning had expressed contrition. . . He denied the assertion that as Fanning’s sponsor, Rip Curl, was also an advertiser with the magazine, this had influenced the withdrawal of the issue.

Times are tough enough for print magazines without pulling newsstand issues and being forced into refunding all those advertising dollars. Sounds like some bad decisions all around.
While it’s beginning to feel a little like “new site Monday” around here we can’t skip this one. The International Association of Skateboard Companies has finally updated their website and it’s definitely worth a second look for those who quit visiting the site years ago.
Created by JL Productions the newly redesigned site showcases IASC premium members like never before! With an emphasis on the latest headlines affecting skateboarding and an all inclusive calendar with industry events, consumer events, and trade shows all available in one place. As the new site develops it will be a true resource for the skateboarding community and IASC members.
