Transworld Media Launches Video Portal

by The Editors on June 7, 2011

Tws TvSuggesting that it’s never too late to launch a video portal Transworld Media has aggregated all of their video content into one site and called it, Transworld TV, according to a story on Transworld Business.

“We´ve finally delivered the perfect platform to service all of TransWorld Media´s original content and exclusive partner videos,” said Editorial Director Rob Campbell. “This makes TransWorld an immediate player in digital content delivery, capable of serving the best video programming whenever our audience demands it.”

Guess playing catch up with ASG’s GrindTV probably isn’t that bad an idea if that’s the business you’re in.

Shane Dorian’s New Inflatable Wetsuit

by The Editors on June 2, 2011

Shane Dorian has helped create a wetsuit that Transworld Surf’s Justin Cote says “will forever change the act of big wave surfing.”

Working together with Billabong Wetsuits and Mustang Survival Corporation, Dorian created the first wetsuit with a built-in instantly inflatable air bladder. With a quick tug on a ripcord, the wetsuit quickly lifts the wearer from deep underwater to the surface. . . The revolutionary suit has been dubbed the “Billabong V1” with the V standing for Vertical ascent and the 1 indicating positive altitude, or one foot above sea level.

It’s pretty obvious that this is a wetsuit that will save lives. And like all great ideas, it seems strange that no one had thought of it before.

2011 Mega Ramp Open At Woodward

by The Editors on June 2, 2011

Megarampopen Poster-4On Thursday, Thursday, Thursday June 9, 2011 the monsters of skateboarding converge on Woodward West for the first stop of the MegaRamp Championship Series starring Bob Burnquist, Jake Brown, Andy McDonald, Adam Taylor, and Lincoln Ueda. (If you can’t tell we’re typing in our best monster truck announcer voices).

The competition is open to both pros and top ams and will be a fully spectator event. Judged during a jam format, athletes will drop in nine stories to jump a 70 ft. gap, landing at 45mph and subsequently hitting a 27 ft. high quarterpipe that sends them 50 ft. in the air. It’s skate action as you’ve never seen it.

Danny Way and Christian Hosoi will be in the judges stand. And yes, there will be some BMX involved, but no skiers thank God. If you haven’t seen the Megaramp in person, this might be the perfect time. It is much more impressive in person. Seriously. Follow the jump for a look at the Woodward Megaramp and all the details.
