Piss Your Way Down The Mountain Game

by The Editors on November 29, 2011

Article-2067283-0Ef998Da00000578-982 233X613According to a story in the Daily Mail, a British company has developed a new urinal gaming system that allows micturaters to control a snowboarder on a video screen all with their blasting, splashing stream of urine.

The system works by a clip-on LED screen at the top of the urinal, and a motion sensor aimed down into the ‘business’ area of the urinal. . . Because it doesn’t use liquid sensors or cameras, the makers hope that disagreeable cleaning tasks will be kept to a minimum.

Apparently, when men are given something to aim at there is less clean up. And a hulking porcelain urinal obviously isn’t enough of a target so drink up and bring on the piss shredders.

Snowboarder Dies At Mountain High

by The Editors on November 29, 2011

Angelique De Leon, 23, of Riverside, California died Sunday, November 27, 2011 from injuries she sustained while snowboarding at Southern California’s Mountain High resort, according to a story in the Los Angeles Times.

[The] Riverside resident was wearing a helmet when she fell forward at about 4 p.m. on a run she had already descended successfully several times during the day, authorities said. . . “It was a head-over-heels fall, and she sustained internal injuries,” said Deputy Jeff Lewison of the San Bernardino county coroner’s office. “It just somehow hit wrong.”

Sadly, De Leon is the third snowboarder in North America to die in the first month of the new snowboarding season. Our thoughts are with De Leon’s family and friends.

Slater Up For SI Sportsman Of The Year

by The Editors on November 29, 2011

Kelly SportsmanSports Illustrated, the flagging old media mag known more for nearly naked high-priced models than insightful sports coverage, has apparently nominated 11-time ASP World Champion Kelly Slater for the title of Sportsman of the Year.

Slater has long since established himself as not only the greatest professional surfer of all time but as simply, The Surfer. He’s the one guy your grandmother in landlocked Topeka has heard of, the guy who singularly transcends his discipline. Babe Ruth. Wayne Gretzky. Tony Hawk. Yo-Yo Ma. Kelly Slater.

Hey, you don’t have to convince us. Just put him in a bikini and give Kelly the award already.

Hardflip: The Chrisitian Skateboarding Movie

by The Editors on November 29, 2011

We’re always a little frightened when a movie is pitched as a “christian skateboarding film,” but aside from some cringe inducing dialog, Hardflip from Risen Media (producers of the Bethany Hamilton biopic Soul Surfer) looks like it might have some good skateboarding in it. It’s the story of a kid who always wanted to be a pro skater, but he runs into a little trouble along the way.

Caleb’s only real friend, a “crazy”, homeless, street preacher named Ralph, speaks nuggets of Truth through God’s Word, guiding Caleb along his journey. . . Through the tragedy of his mother’s illness and the sudden appearance of the father he never knew, Caleb becomes the man his mother always prayed he’d be.

The film features Christian Hosoi, Rosanna Arquette, and some other familiar faces. PTL.
