We’re not exactly down with the Carbonated, Caffeinated, High Fructose Corn Syrup Tour, but we have to admit–the Nike Open Slopestyle course at Breckenridge looks pretty strong. Here Eric Willett guides us through.
We somehow missed out on the first two episodes of Powder & Rails Standard Films history. It feels good to relive the glory years with Mike and Dave Hatchett. We are reminded by how much we hated the music, loved the Spreckels premieres, and by how different the world was then. Follow the jump for parts one and two. [click to continue…]
Beginning December 26, 2011 you won’t have to be a hot naked blonde to sleep with Shaun White. Now, thanks to his new collection of bedding, lamps, curtains, storage bins, and piggy banks available at Target people around the country will be able to bed down with the flying tomato no matter what they look like.
“It’s been a fun process creating a home product line with Target,” said Shaun. “We got our first crack at interior design when my brother Jesse and I worked on the Living Room for Target House at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. So, we jumped at the chance to give home design a shot and came up with stuff that we would’ve loved to have when we were growing up.”
Shaun spoke to the New York Times today about his choice in homes, interior design influences, why he’s doing it, and what’s next. Oddly, there was no mention of the rumored Shaun Wipes in this new new product home delivery. Guess Target is still keeping that under wraps. Follow the jump for the official word. Thanks to those tiny camera from that one company, we all get to see Pipeline the way the Mark Healey, Anthony Walsh, Mikey Bruneau, Jamie Sterling and Koa Smith see it. And it’s about as close as many of us will ever get.
On Saturday, January 7, 2012 Laguna Beach, California’s AR4T Gallery will host the opening party of a photography exhibit titled Still Life With Wood.
The exhibit features a collection of work from some of the best men to ever point highly polished glass at a rolling slab of maple: Grant Brittain, Dave Swift, James Cassimus, Miki Vuckovich, Jon Humphries, and Atiba Jefferson. The show will also feature the art of Jay Croft and music by el mysterioso.
We really shouldn’t have to say this, but put this in you calendar and be there. Seriously. Party begins at 7 PM and will spill out onto the street no doubt. AR4T is located at 210 North Coast Highway, Laguna Beach, California.
Seems like everyone has a plan that involves getting people to give money via the crowd sourced funding site Kickstarter. Well, add Encinitas, California based super soul surf hippie site KorduroyTV. Here’s their pitch:
It has been two years since the launch Korduroy.TV and in that time we have independently produced over 200 shorts, 3 documentaries, and numerous events aimed at creating a new platform for independent surf culture. . . For a consistent flow of rad new shows over this next year we need to raise $18,000 USD to cover our video production, resources and labor costs in order for us to continue spreading digital aloha.
Those who enjoy their surf media served up in a painfully earnest, tragically hipster fashion (and we do mean fashion) click on over to Korduroy.tv’s Kickstarter page and ante up. A $25 pledge will get you a Korduroy Sticker Pack, New Tropi Treats Pineapple Snacks and limited edition “GOT DIGITAL ALOHA?” t-shirt.” Which isn’t a bad deal at all.
UK snowboarder Calum Paton has 50-50’d for 255.9 feet on a special rail built in a proped up refrigerator the Sno!Zone Milton Keynes. And for the he was awarded a Guinness Book of World Record for the “longest rail ever ridden on a snowboard.” The sad news is he didn’t make it to the end of the rail. For all the details (and a four-times too long video), follow the jump. [click to continue…]
It’s been a nearly miraculous recovery for Kevin Pearce and it’s good to see him back on the snow with all his friends. It was even cooler to hear him announcing on the live webcast of the US Snowboarding Grand Prix from Copper Mountain. We’re thinking commentating should be Kevin’s new career. He’s good.
