Karmaloop.com, the Boston-based urban fashion online retailer, is dropping in on online skateboard retailing with a new site called BrickHarbor.com.
“While our goal is to appeal to customers that actually skate, our expert staff strives to provide the best customer service to aspiring skateboarders as well, creating a unique user experience that will leave customers impressed and eager to return,” says Chase Whitaker, Brick Harbor’s Director of Operations.
The site lists PJ Ladd, Terry Kennedy, Jack Curtin, Stevie Williams, and Gino Ianucci as their team and they’re playing the “created by skateboarders for skateboarders” game from the start. Looks like CCS is getting a little more competition. And if BrickHarbor can do for skateboarding what Karmaloop does in youth fashion this could get interesting. Day one of the 2012 Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach seemed to go well for all of the top seeds, except for Taj Burrow. Burrow came in last against Nic Muscroft and Kolohe Andino in Round one Heat eight. Muscroft seemed surprised by it all.
“My legs are a bit sore after that last wave,” Muscroft said. “I didn’t know if I would have much of a chance against those guys out there, but I was able to get a good wave at the end and got the score. It’s always a pleasure to compete at this level and my best friend Robbo (Adam Robertson) made it to the Finals here a few years ago and that’s given me the confidence to do well here too.”
High men’s score of the day went to Owen Wright with a 17.93. But the day’s highest score was Sally Fitzgibbons 18.84 against Coco Ho and Sage Erickson. For the official word from the ASP follow the jump. [click to continue…]

An obviously uninformed gunman walked into a San Deigo, California Pacific Sunwear store on Sunday, April 1, 2012 to rob the place, according to a story on 10News.com.
The robber was armed with a black semi-automatic handgun as demanded cash from an employee at the Pacific Sunwear store at 321 Horton Plaza at about 10:20 a.m., according to San Diego police Sgt. Jeff Napier. . . He was described as a white man in his 20s who was about 6 feet 1 inch tall. He was wearing a baseball hat, a black “fluffy” jacket and gray jeans.
The robber walked with a little cash and an iPod. Apparently, he didn’t know that if he was after real money he should have hit a Zumiez or a Tilly’s.
