After an early start, then a pause, then another go, the 2012 O’Neill Cold Water Classic made it through the last four heats of Round 3 and the first four heats of Round 4 and Joel Parkinson moved another step closer to an ASP World Title.
Parkinson was selective in his slow Round 4 heat, but the cautious wave choice allowed the Australian to notch the day’s highest score of 9.50 for a powerful combination of turns, aiding in his advancement to the Quarterfinals. . . “It was really slow at the start and I didn’t get a wave for about 11 minutes,” Parkinson said. “That 9.5 was a good wave. I waited. I figured I wasn’t going to waste my time on small waves. I’d rather lose than see someone get the wave that I wanted.”

A Stifel Nicolaus analyst named Jim Duffy reportedly upgraded his rating on Quiksilver to buy from hold and the stock jump a whopping 38 cents to $3.78 a share on Monday, according to a story in Businessweek.
The company’s updated management could bring new energy to the company. Some leaders are also approaching deadlines in their restricted stock grants that would provide a strong incentive for them to get the stock price back up. . . Duffy also said that early hints of stabilization in Europe and some lower administrative costs could improve Quiksilver’s revenue and margin picture in 2013.
Yep. Apparently, Alana Smith became the second girl ever to do a McTwist. We’re not really into glorifying trick progression, but sure a 12-year-old girl landing a trick that guys have been doing for 28 years is good right? It happened at Saturday, November 3, 2012 at the “exposed” women’s skate contest at the YMCA in San Diego. Congrats, Alana. You’re good.
There are many ways to help those whose lives have been impacted by Superstorm Sandy and ERGO Clothing has chosen to channel their help through their own Restore The Shore Projects.
Restore The Shore Projects was started by ERGO intern, Derek Koch, who is a 2nd year graphic design student at Rowen University in Glassboro, NJ. Koch and friend, Travis LeBar, started a Facebook page with Koch’s design, and it went viral overnight. “Derek was an amazing intern for us this past summer,” stated ERGO Co-Founder, Pete DiSpirito. “When he came to me with the initial design, we hit the ground running.” Product will be shipping within 7-10 days and 100% of the profits will be donated to various charities and organizations.
ERGO plans to give “all profits from the sale of the shirts” to Waves For Water. For answers to more questions on Restore the Shore, please click here. For the official word from ERGO, follow the jump. [click to continue…]
Let’s face it. The Weekend Buzz was built for Dustin Dollin and we can’t believe it’s taken so long to get his belly up to Rob Brink and Erica Yary’s bar. Guy could probably be on the show every week without running out of stories (or mixes). That’s probably why this episode is only part one with Beagle. Check it.
Two-time Olympic snowboard cross gold medalist Seth Wescott loves Norway Savings Bank so much that he wears a Norway Savings Bank logo’d dress shirt each time he visits the bank. He also loves saving money. And really, who doesn’t.
