You have two days left to bid on one of Tony Hawk’s Boards + Bands memorabilia collab auctions to raise money for the Tony Hawk Foundation and its mission to help build skateparks.
The Boards + Bands fundraising initiative merges the worlds of skateboarding and music to benefit the work of the Tony Hawk Foundation. Hawk invited a select group of professional skateboarders to donate their personally ridden skateboards and submit the name of their favorite songs. Harper then sent those boards on to the appropriate artists with one simple message: “Please write the lyrics to this skater’s favorite song on his skateboard, and we’ll use it to create more skateparks for kids.” . . .The skaters and artists who have collaborated include Bucky Lasek and Adam Yauch, Rodney Mullen and Ben Harper, Jamie Thomas and Bob Dylan, Mike Vallely and Tom Petty, Steve Caballero and Metallica, Bob Burnquist and Ben Harper, Lance Mountain and Jimmy Cliff, and Tony Hawk and Paul McCartney.
The auction ends on Thursday, December 123, 2012 at 7 PM. Click here to bid, or follow the jump for the official word. [click to continue…]

You’d notice that several of the companies listed in Unruly’s “Most Shared Social Video Brands of 2012 are in our space. Looks like DC Shoes must be doing something right. They beat the colored cow and Coke when it comes to video. Of course Nike slayed them all and the Google took top prize (even thought they’re probably responsible for most of the views). So yeah, after all that RIP Berrics drama last week that had the inter webs all aflutter, the place is back in the game (no surprise) with a “rebirth” edit. Same city, same Eric, same Berra, but some new things to skate. And, if we’re not mistaken, a new, usable, website (which is nice). Click the link and let Eric Koston take you on a tour.

With Soloshot none of us have to depend on an easily distracted friend, lazy filmer, or bored girl or boyfriend. All we have to do is put the camera on a Soloshot equipped tripod, slip a transmitter on our arm, and we’ve got a dedicated filmer rolling non-stop. The only downside? The thing costs $479.00. But then again, it doesn’t whine, complain, or miss the shot . . .ever!

Brett Bean, a 43-year-old surfer who summers in Phuket, Thailand and winters as ski instructor in California has been missing since November 29, 2012, according to a story in the Phuket News.
Mrs Bean [Brett’s mother] told reporters that in his most recent email to her, at 12.20 Thailand time on November 26, he told her that he was going out to join a friend for lunch. There were no emails after that. . . On November 29 she went to meet him, as arranged, at Los Angeles International Airport but he never showed. She contacted staff of the airline, Cathay Pacific, who said that he had been booked on the flight but had not turned up for it. . . Since that last email, two withdrawals have been made from his bank account.
The withdrawals were for about US$50 each and the account is now empty. Also missing from his apartment were wallet, mobile phone, notebook computer, and his Honda Wave motorcycle. Bean’s mother is nowin Thailand hoping to find her son. She has offered a reward. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact call Ms Ananya at 089-646-4191 or Denny Bowman, US Embassy coordinator, at 089-973-3483.
