Few things in life are funnier than listening to A-man voice over a video. Especially when it’s shot in the classic Warren Miller style. Here A-man posts up at the top of Timberline’s Pucci lift and gives the play-by-play. “Their passes are going to get snagged on something and they’re going to get decapitated, if the worms is their asses don’t get them. . . ”

Nike doesn’t seem afraid to shift things around and today they moved former VP of Action Sports Sandy Bodecker to work on “special project involving long-term production innovation” and pushed former Hurley President Roger Wyett (pictured left with Bob Hurley) into the VP of Action Sports job, according to a story on Oregon Live.
In addition, Nike announced that Jim Calhoun, chief executive of Converse Inc., will report directly to company Chief Executive Mark Parker. . . “Roger’s leadership over these important businesses will help continue to drive success for Nike,” Parker said. “I’d like to thank Sandy for his strong leadership over the last five years and look forward to his continued significant contributions to the company. . . Scott LeClair, vice president and general manager of Nike Skate and Nike Snow, will report to Wyett. Bob Hurley, currently the interim Hurley chief executive, will also remain in that position and will report to Wyett.
Maybe these moves are a result of recent reorganization on Nike surf vs. Hurley issue. Sounds like someone at Nike is continuing to put ducks in orderly rows for a change.

Thanks to all kinds of rumors surrounding a possible $1.10 a share buy-out by Billabong America’s president Paul Naude, trading in the company’s stock has once again been halted, according to a story in the Hearld Sun.
Mr Naude, who stepped aside from the role last month to investigate a management buyout, is believed to have lined up US-based private equity group Sycamore Partners to help fund the deal. . . According to market speculation, the offer was put to Billabong chairman Ian Pollard late on Friday. . . It would value the company at $526.8 million. . . The group’s shares jumped to a two-month high of $1.01 yesterday as opportunity-hungry investors leapt on early speculation of a deal shortly after 11am.
The halt on trading was requested by the company “until tomorrow, pending an announcement.” Well, Parko won the world title, so guess that means the deal has to go through.

While the showboarders were busy performing tricks for NBC’s cameras at the flame retardant, mouse dissolving, caffeinated, carbonated high fructose corn syrup event at Breckenridge, the snowboarders of the world converged on Oregon’s Mt. Bachelor for what is quickly becoming the season opening event for the core shred crowd, the Dirksen Derby. Luckily for us, Yobeat.com was there to capture all the action (click here for full results).

This weekend (December 13-16, 2012) the flame retardant, mouse dissolving, caffeinated, carbonated high fructose corn syrup winter event went down at Breckenridge Resort in Colorado. We didn’t watch a lick of it, because we’re not interested in promoting the obeseification of America’s youth.
Apparently, Shaun White won the pipe and Mark McMorris took the slopestyle. On the women’s side Brita Sigourney took the pipe and the magnificent Jamie Anderson killed it in slopestyle. For complete results, please follow the jump. And congrats to all the snowboarders. [click to continue…]

It was a day of number ones for Australian Joel Parkinson. His first ASP World Championship. His first win of the season. And his first Billabong Pipeline Masters in Memory of Andy Iron title over Josh Kerr in a tight final 17.17 to 14.83.
“It’s very surreal feeling. I’ve got to pinch myself,” Parkinson said from the podium. “I feel like I still have to man up and surf another heat. But it’s all over. It’s done. . . I don’t know who sent me those waves in that final. And thanks to Andy for pushing those things in. To mother nature. He always be a part of this event. Whatever anyone does at pipe it will never come close to what Andy did. . . One day you wake up feeling good the next day you wake up feeling like a loser. This morning I felt like a Champion when I woke up. Like Andy (Irons) always said ‘I got this, huh?’ I dedicate this to my family, Dad who used to take me to contests when I was 10, my wife and my mom and kids, this is all for us.”
Get the official word from the ASP and results after the jump. [click to continue…]
