SacTown rockers Deftones (hey, what up Abe?) rolled out the official video for their new song Romantic Dreams and they’re not even in the edit. But skateboarder Jason Park is, according to a story on Loudwire.
“When we started this record cycle, we decided that we didn’t want to make any videos whatsoever,” Chino Moreno said. “They’re not much fun to make and they usually turn out pretty corny. But this was an idea that we were interested in because we’re all very keen skateboarders and we like the idea of marrying one of our songs to someone as talented as Jason Park.”
Makes sense. Let the music do the talking, or skateboarding in this case.

Eighteen-year-old skateboarder Alexander Ciszerski died today (Thursday, September 26, 2013) in Queens, New York after the 2005 GMC box truck he was towing along side ran over him after he fell, according to a story in the New York Post.
Ciszewski . . . rode his skateboard up to a white 2005 GMC box truck around 11 a.m. and grabbed the passenger side of door as the vehicle headed east on 47th Avenue near 33rd Street in Sunnyside, cops said. . . Suddenly, Ciszewski lost control and fell under the back wheels of the truck, police sources said.
Anyone who has grabbed on to a car while skateboarding knows how quickly things can go wrong (click here for more examples). Our thoughts are with Ciszerski’s family and friends.

It’s was pro surfers flying every where on the opening day of the 2013 Quiksilver Pro France with three to four-foot A-framed ramps roll through at Seignosse Le Penon. Julian Wilson barely squeaked by Gabriel Medina and Yadin Nicol in Round 1 Heat 7 (above).
Event No. 8 of 10 on the 2013 ASP World Championship Tour, the Quiksilver Pro France showcases professional surfing’s heroes in some of the best beach breaks on the planet. With only two more events left this year, both World Title contenders and surfers outside the Top22 consider the Quiksilver Pro France with the utmost importance.

Burton Snowboard’s visual marketing plan for fall appears to be the serial release of small bits of a snowboard movie in four distinct drops. Earlier they dropped their “backcountry” edit and tomorrow (Friday, September 27, 3013) they’ll blasting out their “street edit.” Before they do that, however, they’d like us to get all wound up with this little taste. And yeah, guess we’re going to fall for it and post it right here.

. . . and just like that it’s over! Sally Fitzgibbons edged fellow Australia Tyler Wright in three to four-foot surf in Seignosse Le Penon, France to win the 2013 Roxy Pro France.
A dominant surfer in previous heats where she combed her opponents several times, Fitzgibbons had to fight through a tight back and forth battle in the final when Wright caught an inside right-hander to score the only other perfect 10 point ride of the event. . . “It was a tricky situation, I had priority and a sneaky right came in and I was looking for the lefts,” Fitzgibbons continued. “She went for it and really stepped it up, I saw her do that little air out the back and I thought game on I got to do something big now ! Patience and perseverance and just keeping your head down, I kept going and I’m just so happy !!”
Sally knocked Stephanie Gilmore out of the comp in quarter final 1 if you were wondering. For the official word from the ASP including full results, follow the jump. [click to continue…]
