Seems like Ryan Sheckler has lived a few more than 21 years when we add up all his past escapades. So if anyone deserves a full blowout Las Vegas 21st Birthday party it’s Sheckles. Tonight at 11 PM the festivities kick off at Moon Nightclub in the Palms Hotel. For those not familiar Moon goes a little like this:
Moon is the exclusive penthouse nightclub occupying the top floor of the Palms’ Fantasy Tower, just above Nove Italiano and Playboy Club. Moon boasts a dramatic, surreal environment unlike any other nightclub in Vegas or the world. The floor is covered in color-changing glass tiles while a curtain of glass beads hanging over the floor-to-ceiling windows plays videos. . . This sexy, sultry club gives way to the most spectacular architectural feature in Las Vegas- a massive retractable roof that opens up to provide a mind-blowing view of the stars.
And from the looks of the sponsors on the party flier there just might be some drinking going on. We can smell spilled Red Bull just typing this.
For those in Vegas there is still time. Party starts at 11 PM for more info call: (702) 942-6832.

Those wacky Australian gearheads at V8 Supercars built a little skateboard for Tony Hawk to ride. While the above photo could be classified as one of the downsides of celebrity life, (via Makezine), we’ve seen no evidence of Tony riding it (wisdom on his part we’re guessing)
For video of the world’s highest powered motorized skateboard in action, follow the jump.

As much as we’d like to be at the Turtle Bay Resort on Monday, December 6, 2010 for the 40th Annual Surfer Poll Awards, we’re going to have to watch the antics of hosts Sal Masekela and Freddie P, and red carpet interviewers Mark Healey, and Saxon Boucher live on the Internet with the rest of the civilians this year.
Here’s a little of what we’re going to miss in person.
This year’s SURFER Poll Awards will be held in honor of recently lost legend, three-time World Champion Andy Irons. While acknowledging all of the surfers lost this year, the event will put a heavy focus on Andy and the legacy he leaves behind in and out of the water. Another focal point of this year’s show will be Kelly Slater’s 10th world title win. Touted as the world’s most dominant athlete, Kelly’s accomplishments have catapulted the sport of surfing and garnered the world’s attention.
We won’t be sipping Mai Tais on the lawn, but we won’t get pushed off the rocks either. Internet show begins at 9 PM PST Monday December 6.
For the rest of the details follow the jump.

Real Estate expert Jason Lee is apparently working on a new TV series for Adult Swim that would have something to do with skateboarding, according to a story on CinemaBlend.com.
Lee wasn’t very specific on the details of the pilot, however he did say that he would be starring and directing in it and that it takes place within the skateboarding world. . . . “It’s very twisted, it’s very out there being that it’s Adult Swim, but I’m very proud that it takes place in the world of skateboarding because not much is done in that world, and so I get to play with that. We’re gearing up to shoot that in a few weeks, so fingers crossed.”
For the record we’ll watch (and even occasionally pay to see) anything Jason Lee appears in.

Stereo’s Jason Lee has apparently sold his Los Feliz LA home at a loss of $300,000, according to a story in the Wall Street Journal.
Located in the Los Feliz neighborhood, the 2,200-square-foot home has three bedrooms and three baths. Situated on a 1½ acre lot with city views, the home, which was built in 1948, has a separate guest house, gardens and a private office. There’s a hot tub located off the master suite.
Lee reportedly bought the home in 2007 from bluesman Robert Cray for $3.4 million and has just sold it for $3.1. In “these economic times” it could have been much worse.

Ross Rebagliati, the world’s first Olympic snowboard gold medal winner, has not has the same luck with British Columbia politics, according to a story in The Globe and Mail.
“For personal and family reasons, it is with regret that I must step down as the Liberal candidate in Okanagan–Coquihalla,” Mr. Rebagliati said in a news release Friday. “I remain steadfast in my support for the Liberal Party of Canada and our Leader Michael Ignatieff, but the time has come for me to focus on new life challenges.”
Rebagliati decided last October that he was going to seek office, but since then has apparently decided that (unlike the 1998 Nagano Olympics) he had very little chance of winning. Wonder what his new “life challenges” are going to be?

ESPN just listed the athletes who have been “invited” to their made-for-TV snow sports entertainment festival Winter X Games 15 scheduled for January 27 – 30, 2011 in Aspen, Colorado and Shaun White’s name is not on the list.
We’re not up on the latest TV industry gossip, so we really have no reason to comment other than to say that it seems rude not to invite a gold medalist back. Maybe Shaun’s representatives and ESPN have yet to come to terms on how much he should be paid for appearing on this winter’s episode of the action sports TV series.
A source familiar with the situation said, “It’s not that he wasn’t invited, it’s just that he’s not yet confirmed.”
Luckily, Scotty Lago, Tim Humphreys, and Sebastien Toutant are apparently confirmed. Not to suggest that it will increase the chances of our watching any of the events.
[Editors’ Note: The page headline has been updated to read “WX15 confirmed athletes,” however, Shaun White’s name is still obviously missing from the list.]

In spite of Tony Hawk’s recent media blitz (including the high-profile Stand Up For Skateparks events and book launch) his new Tony Hawk Shred video game had a pretty dismal first week on sale, according to a story on GamesIndustry.biz.
The most recent multiformat Tony Hawk title from Activision has had a disastrous launch in the US, selling only 3000 units in its first week in October.
GameFocus.ca is already calling it a “commercial failure.” But we wouldn’t know because we (like most in the media) have not even played the new game.

Eighty-four year-old actor Dick Van Dyke was reportedly surfing in Virginia Beach on his 10 foot longboard when he fell asleep on his board and drifted out to sea, according to a story in the Daily Mail.
‘I went out once and fell asleep on that board and I woke up out of sight of land,’ said Van Dyke, the star of Mary Poppins and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. . . ‘And I looked around and I started paddling with the swells, and I started seeing fins swimming around me. I thought, “I’m dead”.’ . . ‘They turned out to be porpoises. They pushed me all the way to shore – I’m not kidding.’
Apparently, dolphins are bigger fans of 60s TV than scientists originally thought.

Tony Hawk held his Stand Up For Skateparks event at The Wynn resort in Las Vegas on Satruday (November 6, 2010) and all we can say is: where else would we ever see a photo op that included Shaun White, Tony Hawk, Holly Madison, Eric Estrada, and Kevin Staab. Seriously. If Andre Agassi had been in the shot it would have been all time.
We’re pretty sure the event raised a lot of money for the Tony Hawk Foundation and may have even moved a few units of Tony Hawk Shred. Click here for the full slideshow from the Las Vegas Weekly. Follow the jump for the official press release.
