Monster Energy Sued By 5 Women

Five women are reportedly suing Monster Energy over what they call an abusive, discriminatory culture, according to a story in the Huffington Post.

The women’s lawsuits and personal stories paint a detailed and disturbing picture of what systemic sex discrimination does to women’s lives and careers. Women at Monster allege that they were punished for speaking up, saying their professional reputations were tarnished and careers derailed. Egregious behavior by mainly male executives went without consequence.

Monster reportedly states that the “cases are without merit and had nothing to do with sex discrimination, and characterized the women who filed the suits as “disgruntled employees.” For the rest of the story, click the link.

Pro-Tec Is Like 45 Years Old

Mervin Nabs Maxx von Marbod

Mervin Mfg. is excited to announce the addition of Maxx von Marbod as Sales Director for North America and APAC.

Maxx is a life-long Northwest based snowboarder, surfer, board collector, designer and friend to all he meets. As a snowboarder, he’s seen it all from a frothy grom battling it out in Northwest Series to a seasoned ripper playing a pivotal role at major brands across the industry. Throughout his 20+ year board sports tour of duty, Maxx has managed to stay in love with the activities that help define him; riding boards with good friends on a weekly basis. His love for shred has kept Maxx closely connected to the Mervin Mfg. crew often helping to tweak new products through his valuable R & D feedback only a double decade veteran could provide.

So we guess what they’re saying is that this isn’t Maxx’s first rodeo.

Asymbol Is Shutting It Down

Travis Rice’s Jackson Hole based art gallery Asymbol will be closing it’s doors on March 1, 2018. Here’s the scoop from T-Rice and the Asymbol Family.

After ten epic years of art, photography, community and adventure, we feel that the dream of Asymbol has run it’s incredible course. . . We did what we set out to do and more, no small feat considering that nothing like Asymbol had ever been done before. The decision was far from easy but for us, it is the right one. The support of our community, artists and partners has made this journey a magical one, a thing that has changed us all in amazing ways. . . On March 1st, Asymbol will close both our cyber and physical doors. We will be spending the next weeks celebrating what we have created together and encourage you to join us in writing this last chapter.

Utah Neighbors Not Happy With Woodward

Camp Woodward’s recently approved action sports park near Gorgoza Park on Interstate 80 in the Pinebrook neighborhood of Park City, Utah has some local residents up in arms, according to a story on KPCW.

A group of Pinebrook residents filed an appeal last week against the proposed Camp Woodward youth recreation facility near Gorgoza Park, arguing that the the facility will have negative impacts on their neighborhood. 

The neighbors are complaining about snowblowers, noise, lights, traffic, and a chairlift that goes much higher than it was supposed to go. For the entire story, click the link.

Snowboarder Missing At Mt. Baker

A 24-year-old snowboarder who went missing at Mt. Baker on Sunday, January 21, 2018 has not been found after a full day of work by a large search and rescue team, according to a story in the Bellingham Herald.

Vitaliy Datskiy’s two friends reported him missing shortly after noon Sunday when he didn’t return to a designated meeting point near the bottom of the ski area’s Chair Three, said Whatcom County Undersheriff Jeff Parks. . . “He got separated from (his friends) and didn’t show up to meet them,” Parks said. “They believe he’s still somewhere in the ski area.” . . Duncan Howat, ski area president and general manager, said the Ski Patrol immediately began what’s called a “hasty search” of the most dangerous spots in the area where Datskiy was last seen.

Howat says Datskiy was last seen ducking under a rope on Chair 6. The resort has received 50 inches of snow since Friday. Datskiy is the third snowboarder to go missing at the mountain this season. We hope for the best.
