West Coast brands can get as big as they want, but they still don’t count until they make it there. That’s probably why Nixon is so excited about this Bloomingdale’s deal sponsored by Marvin Jarrett’sNylon.

After spending the whole day at the Crossroads Trade Show last year we didn’t have the stamina to make it through the best trick contest. We’re not going to let that happen again and neither should you. This year $10,000 purse with backing from Thunder, Spitfire, Thrasher and Kayo. It will be boss.
Lori Petty was given five year probation after “pleading no contest last week to a misdemeanor DUI charge” in which the allegedly drunk actress allegedly hit a 14-year-old skateboarder while driving in Venice, California, according to a story in People Magazine.
The actress will pay fines and receive outpatient treatment and attend AA meetings, according to Los Angeles Superior Court records. A second DUI charge was dismissed as part of Petty’s plea deal.
One more from the “skater found by the side of the road” files. According to CBS5.com Joshua Silva, 28, was found unconscious and bleeding from his head in Pleasenton, California at 10:45 PM September 2, 2009.
He was taken to Eden Medical Center to be treated for a possible skull fracture. . . A preliminary investigation indicates Silva had been drinking alcohol and fell off his skateboard while riding on Birch Creek Drive, police reported. . . No witnesses were located and there was no evidence that another person or a vehicle was involved in the incident. . . Silva, who was not wearing a helmet, was in serious condition this morning, police said.
This is the third skater found found by the side of the road in the past two months. Luckily, Joshua is still alive.
On August 21, 2009 just a week after Lucas Magoon went down with a head injury, Celtek designer Dave Doman went down with a similar injury while skateboarding in San Celemente, California, according to the Celtek website.
Doman was rushed to Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo, where he is currently in a medically induced coma, recovering from his injuries. Things are looking positive, but it’s going to be a long road to recovery. . . Hanging out in the ICU isn’t cheap so we are offering this poster and t-shirt featuring Dave’s original art to help raise some funds. 100% of the proceeds of the sale will go to help Dave with his recovery expenses.
It’s a good thing to do, not to mention a nice graphic T.

This clip from Zimtstern would have easily won many of the recent snow and skate video advertising contests. More importantly it puts us right back in the fall feeling when the air gets crisp, the nights get long, and we start strapping into our snowboards in the middle of the livingroom . . .
When the Royal Caribbean International cruise lines launches the world’s largest cruise ship, the Oasis of the Seas, in December it will be with a ship full of retail stores: 13 in all. One of them is called called Star Pier.
Star Pier is a hybrid of all things tweens and teens adore. . . . From clothing labels including Roxy, Quiksilver, and DC Apparel to an electronic games and accessories outpost alive with a DJ station and Wii game area, this is not the average teen clothing store.
The Quik boat soon will be making another run, the Quik boat promises something for everyone, set a course for adventure,
