Thanks to court documents related to what appears to be pretty nasty divorce proceedings between Ross Rebagliati, the first Olympic Snowboard Gold Medal winner, and his wife Alexandra Rebagliati, we are all privy to bales of Rebagliati weed smoking allegations, according to a story on HQ Kelowna (and Canada.com). Here’s one:
The three year old son of Olympic gold medalist Ross Rebagliati tests positive for “Cannabinoids” by way of a hair analysis test conducted by MotherRisk laboratories.
And if that’s not enough, even his old girlfriend is jumping in on the action:
Rebagliati’s ex-girlfriend, Jennifer Friesen, states in her sworn affidavit “through our relationship Ross could not get out of bed without smoking weed to function and he could not sleep at night unless he smoked an entire joint. Ross told me he smoked a joint at his friend Lumpy’s wake just weeks before the Olympics and that he had a bag of weed in his room in Nagano and smoked a joint only hours after his win. As soon as word came out that he had tested positive, he stashed his weed in the hotel and hid his medal in the ceiling tiles.”
Doesn’t sound so much like the whole Olympic weed scandal was much of a conspiracy after all.

Saturdays isn’t the only surf shop in NYC. After Mollusk New York closed last year Chris Gentile decided he wasn’t done with surf retail just yet and opened Pilgrim Surf & Supply at 68 N 3rd St. in Brooklyn, according to a story on Cool Hunting.
Gentile. . . aims “to bridge surf and certain parts of fashion that I find really relevant.” The beautiful boards are handmade by some of the best shapers in the world. Among the store’s other carefully selected pieces are women’s swimwear from Bantu, Basta, and Caitlin Mociun (who shares a studio space with Gentile and has a store around the corner); bags and wallets by Makr Carry Goods; beach wraps by Nomadic Thread Society; and apparel by VSTR and M.Nii.
If you’re wondering how these New York surf boutiques can find success just remember– in NYC shopping is not a sport, it’s a lifestyle.

Jonah King, a 16-year-old longboarder from Rowan County, North Carolina died from head injuries sustained after skateboard towing, according to a story on WSOTV.com.
King was riding his longboard, which is a bigger version of a skateboard, on Timberlane Trail in Salisbury when he fell and hit his head. . . Police said he was being pulled behind a car when he fell. Investigators said King was doing what is known as “towing” or “skidding,” which is when a skateboarder grabs the side of a vehicle and is towed up hills.
King was not wearing a helmet and had, earlier in the evening, been caught on tape illegally buying beer at a mini market. Authorities are awaiting toxicology results. Our thoughts are with King’s family and friends.

Along with his cousin Chris “Drama” Pfaff, Rob Dyrdek has reportedly launch a frozen burrito company called Loud Mouth Burritos, according to a story on TMZ.
The “Fantasy Factory” duo is hawking two options for now: Cheeseburger — stuffed with hamburger meat, cheese, ketchup and mustard … and Pepperoni Pizza — with mozzarella, pepperoni and tomato sauce. . . The frozen goods are currently being sold at several 24-hour Kum and Go and Maverik convenience stores — perfect for those late night munchies — and they’re hoping to expand to 10,000 locals by the end of summer.
The burritos, which pack 420 calories, sound like a perfect pairing with some Monster Energy Drink.

Who knew the “world’s best wave pool” was in the middle of a Middle Eastern desert? Apparently, Globe knew and they shared it with Dion Agius (or was it vise versa?):
A few weeks back, Dion Agius and crew embarked on a journey to the Middle East. A journey for waves. A journey that would bring Dion to unleash on the world’s best man made wave. A studio for surfing. Smack in the middle of a desert mountain range in a foreign land.
There was a concept. A concept involving 10 Russian models, a Lamborghini, and Dion boosting virtually every air in the book, plus a couple new ones. Electric blue water contrasting against wild mountainous backdrops.
That’s about all we need to know, really. . .

On Go Skateboarding Day (June 21, 2012), Etnies and Pierre-Andre Senizergues hope to set an official Guinness World Record at the Etnies Skatepark in Lake Forest, California for teaching the largest skateboarding lesson in the history of the world.
“We’re excited to participate in something that gives people the chance to learn more about skateboarding,” said Pierre-Andre Senizergues, World Championship Skateboarder and etnies Owner and CEO. “For me, it’s not just teaching you how to do a kick flip, it’s everything else that skateboarding teaches you. When you learn a trick, you have to approach it with creativity and be adventurous enough to take a risk. You have to be humble because you could fall and be willing to share with others around you who want to learn that same trick. But most of all, it’s about enjoying each moment that skateboarding brings!”
If you’ve got nothing better going on cruise by the Etnies park and get in on the lesson (and the free tacos). You’re never too old to learn, or too rich to pass up a free meal. For all the details, follow the jump. [click to continue…]
