We’ve heard all kinds of horror stories from the Wavehouse in San Diego, but rarely have we heard anything about the more mellow Flowriders like the one at Raging Waters in San Dimas, California. That is until we saw these photos of Katy Perry getting the blow off in the Daily Mail.
Kind of reminds us of something that happened to Bruce Irons once at Teahupoo. . . This is the before photo, follow the jump for the after. . . [click to continue…]
The waiting period from the 2012 Billabong Pro Tahiti opens today (August 16, 2012) and though most tour surfers are probably still recovering from the 2012 US Open, it appears that it’s go time. The call for today will be made at 9:45 AM PST or 6:45 AM local time. Michel Bourez is apparently ready.
“For me, I treat this event like any other,” Bourez said. “Sure, there is an advantage to growing up here and having an event here. I’m comfortable out at Teahupo’o, but the guys in the Top 34 are all very good. Every heat is a challenge and I’m taking every round seriously.”
Up first at Teahupoo will be John John Florence, Miguel Pupo, and Patrick Gudauskas. For the official word from the ASP follow the jump. [click to continue…]
Will Smith’s latest money making scheme (his son Jaden) puts down a small bit of skateboarding skills in his newest video Pumped up Kicks (Like Me). filmed entirely at The Skatelabin Simi Valley, California. And yes, that was Chris Cole and Theotis Beasley all over the place. Nothing like keeping the family business rolling.
Raen Optics is kicking down what they’re calling the “boldest offering in the new collection” with the women’s shade, The Pogue.
The Pogue is equal parts praying mantis and Audrey Hepburn. For women who don’t mind being asked, “Where’d you get those?” five times a day. Art Deco flair and Optics by Carl Zeiss Vision.
With the sales of the company to Sequential Brands Group all contracts were off at DVS Shoes, that’s why they are extra excited to get Daewon Song back on the DVS program for the next three years at least.
“DVS has been family since 1997 and has always had my back 100% and I will always have their’s, 100%!!! Re-signing wasn’t even a question! Just needed to make sure the damn pen worked!” says Song.
Few things in life go together better than ice hockey and surfing. That’s apparently why Quiksilver has announced a new merchandising agreement with the National Hockey League to produce “co-branded board shorts” (puck shorts?), according to a story on SportsPro.com.
“We are excited to extend the reach of our Quiksilver brand in partnership with the NHL,” said Quiksilver Americas executive vice president Steve Tully. “Hockey fans in the US and Canada will now have the opportunity to experience Quiksilver’s iconic product category — boardshorts— in collaboration with their favourite NHL teams.”
According to NHL VP of Cosumer Products Jim Haskins, “The NHL boardshorts line will feature Quiksilver’s signature mix of surf and skate-inspired colours and styles designed for the young NHL fan.”
First the NFL, now the NHL? At this rate Quik’s next agreement will probably be with NASCAR and be distributed in Walmart. Just think of the revenue that deal would generate?
Corasanti, 56, of Getzville, agreed to a consent decree under which he may practice medicine only under the supervision of another licensed physician while he is on probation. He also must be monitored by a therapist and a sobriety monitor. . . The order goes into effect Monday. He may appeal to lift the probation after three years.
Corasanti must also undergo “random sobriety screenings” and enroll in an “ethics program.” We’re still hoping Corasanti gets at least his year in jail. He will be sentenced on August 16, 2012.
