by The Editors on March 19, 2013

Nick Tucker, the skater who grew up in SD and moved to LA, is now on Supra. And the team is hyped.

“I’ve known Nick since he was just a li’l guy coming up from San Diego,” fellow SUPRA team rider Kevin Romar said. “It’s dope to have a homie you’ve known for a long time on the same team as you. Congrats Nick, you earned it. Welcome to the team.”

Skate Stopper Remover Fires Himself Up

by The Editors on March 14, 2013

Got three words for this skate stopper remover: stop, drop, and roll. Seems like a man so good with power tools would have learned that in kindergarten. Guess not.

Supra Sets Up Shop In Dogtown

by The Editors on March 14, 2013

Supra-Santa-Monica-Press

Supra is celebrating the opening of their first California retail store. It’s in Santa Monica, of course.

“We are pleased with the performance of our first two stores and the response from the public has been amazing,” said a SUPRA spokesperson. “We had many potential locations we were looking at for our third store, but Santa Monica made the most sense because Southern California is where the brand was born. It’s a coming home of sorts, and we’re excited about the location.”

Place looks mighty smooth, no? The Supra store is located at 304 Santa Monica Blvd, in Santa Monica, California. Follow the jump for the official details. [click to continue…]

Converse Texas Cts Side Large

In celebration of the Thrasher Magazine Death Match (March 15, 2013), Converse is releasing 240 pairs of this “limited-edition” Converse Texas CTS, apparently. Guess Orange is a big color in Texas sporting or something.

Performance features of the Converse Texas CTS include a molded, multi-density Lunarlon drop-in sockliner for extra comfort; abrasion-resistant suede; traction rubber vulcanized sole; and full memory foam in the collar and tongue for a true customized fit. . . Only 240 pairs of the Converse Texas CTS will be exclusively available in Texas and will be sold at Nice Kicks, Tekgnar, and Fast Forward for a suggested retail price of $65.

If only these things had a little, inset, white star on the side. We’d be all over them. Follow the jump for the official details. [click to continue…]

Billabong Sets Deadline For Final Bids

by The Editors on March 13, 2013

Billabong CorpBillabong, which doesn’t appear to be in the driver’s seat with much of anything when it comes to its own financial situation, has laid down the law to its two suitors. Paul Naude (and friends) and VF Corp reportedly have until March 28, 2013 to make their final bids, according to a story on The Wall Street Journal. And then Billabong will just, well, they’ll just wait until someone makes them a lower offer later like they did last time. Because as we all know:

Billabong is battling to reverse an earnings decline triggered by the global slowdown, a strong Australian dollar that has diluted overseas income, and the dwindling appeal of its core brands among younger people. Sales in the Americas and Europe have fallen sharply as cautious consumers rein in spending or switch to other brands, leading to a build up of surplus clothing stock.

Aside from all that a deadline is a deadline, damnit!

Lost Goes Banzai With Aluminum Cruisers

by The Editors on March 13, 2013

Lost Banzai

Confession: our first “real” skateboard was a purple, anodized aluminum Banzai Skateboard. Got it for Christmas after dreaming about it for months. It had both nose and tail kick long before it was cool. It rolled smoothly and quietly and it hooked us for life. Every feeling of stoke we had for that board, came flooding back when we saw Lost’s new Hesher Metal Cruisers. It appears we’re not the only one’s with anodized aluminum fantasies.

“The earliest memories from my skateboarding days in the 70’s are of riding my Banzai aluminum double kick skateboard,” said Matt “Mayhem” Biolos. “Flashy fun from the past is the polar opposite of all the plastic stuff so many brands are putting out. We wanted to do something special and exquisite.”

And it seems they have. The boards come in four anodized colors with laser cut logos, translucent, color-matched wheels, and die cut grip. The Hesher Metal Cruisers are sold only as completes for $149 a pop. Banzai, indeed.
