Chiu, who spent eight years with the Australian surf/lifestyle brand Insight, most recently as head of marketing and PR for the U.S. division, will focus on aligning strategic partnerships with women’s brands and nurturing a more female-focused experience at AGENDA’s three bi-annual shows in Long Beach, New York and Las Vegas.
Everything you know about the birth of the Dogtown skate scene may be different than you thought, or maybe, just maybe, everyone is playing along with someone’s sick joke in the film Day At The Pool from House of Salt.
The film features blazing interviews with Tony Alva, Stacy Peralta, Jay Adams and the rest of the Dogtown crew. They all reveal that one anonymous kid from the swimming-pool suburbs of Los Angeles may have been singularly responsible for the skateboarding revolution that redefined adolescent life in America. Upon further probing, blazing interviews become heated as an intentionally hidden secret is uncovered.
After the top contenders got knocked out in earlier rounds of the 2013 Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach, it was Adriano de Souza who knocked out American tour rookie Nat Young to became the first South American to win the event in its 52 year history.
“This is the most important event on tour to me,” De Souza said. “Guys like Andy Irons, Kelly Slater, my hero Mick Fanning, they have all rung the Bell. I have been coming here a lot of years. I love the place. It has been a tough time for me recently. I started 2013 without a sponsor for the first time in many years. I had to believe in myself that a company would believe in me and one did. I have to say thanks to Pena for believing in me. I have a lot of people to thank, but all I want to do right now is ring the bell.”

“To win Bells is a dream,” Moore said. “As a little kid, you always looked forward to watching it and reading about it. The history and the prestige and the people who have won it are really legendary. To be a part of it now is really special.”
