Smith Archive Collection: Bringing Sexy Back

by The Editors on January 10, 2014

Sexy 80s & 90s eyewear is making a strong comeback. Don’t think it’s not. We know. We walked the Agenda Show aisles. Smith Optics did it better than anyone back in the day, and now they’re bringing it back exactly as it was done before with their new Smith Archive Collection.

One World, One Love, One Wheel

by The Editors on January 9, 2014

The designers behind the Onewheel Kickstarter project began with the hope of building a hoverboard. What they ended up with is an electric one-wheeled skateboard. We’d like to think it looks a little better than a Segway, but we’re not sure. If you like the idea, there are 17 days left to fund this project. They hope to raise $100,000 and they’re getting pretty close.

Color Magazine Reaches End Of Rainbow

by The Editors on January 9, 2014

Colorlogo2013_webAfter 10 years of producing Color Magazine, Canada’s Fourcorner Publishing Inc. has announced that they will no longer print the magazine and are taking an “extended hiatus from the traditional methods.”

“I may have received back just as much as we gave [while making the magazine]—which was always all of ourselves,” said founder Alessandro Grison. “I am forever grateful for the amazing people I met and got the opportunity to work with over the years. I’m thankful to walk away enriched by memorable experiences.”

The rough times in action sports media continue. Sadly, we’re guessing this won’t be the last bit of bad news we’re expecting  in the coming months. For the official word from Fourcorner, follow the jump.

Is Billabong’s Proposed Stock Sale Unfair?

by The Editors on January 9, 2014

billabong_corp-tm.jpgOn January 30, 2014 the shareholders of Billabong will vote on a proposal to issue 329 million shares at 41c apiece to Centerbridge Partners and Oaktree Capital Management, according to a story in The Australian. But not everyone is happy about this plan.

AN independent expert has declared a proposal to issue up to $185 million in Billabong shares to a pair of US private equity funds is unfair to existing shareholders.

To know what’s truly “unfair” you’d have to weigh dilution against dissolution.

ourCaste Fall 2014 Preview

by The Editors on January 6, 2014

We’re not sure we know anything about ourCaste other than their clothing looks good and their models look infinitely “hip” in an almost fetishistic way. What’s been getting us most recently is that retro “Skateboarder Magazine” font. It tickles our design center each and every time we see it. Not going to lie.

Bjorn Leines’ Full Rome Year

by The Editors on January 6, 2014

Here’s what Bjorn Leines was up to last season. And here’s what Rome has to say about it:

Long before the word “boss” started getting tossed around everyday, Bjorn defined it. He still does. Such an amazing snowboarder, he is always down to strap in, whether it is AK lines, Minnesota streets, or nearly melted out Colorado couloirs.
