Lib Tech Snowboards is taking their zany urban street rail set up to Beantown on Saturday, October 18, 2014 for the Downtown Throwdown Boston.

The DTTD has always set itself apart from other events by specifically choosing riders who focus on filming video parts and are out changing the face of urban snowboarding…and this year’s line-up continues to back that up. Forest Bailey, Dylan Thompson, Ted Borland, Dillon Ojo, Brandon Reis, Andrew Brewer, Mike Rav, Jaeger Bailey, Spencer Shubert and Dylan Alito are among the 25 riders chasing $20,000 in the famous DTTD giant cardboard I.O.U.’s. Stephanie Gilmore claims to have been surprised that she was able to reel in a win over Sally Fitzgibbons at the Cascais Women’s Pro at Bafureira, Portugal, but we’re guessing she was one of the only ones.

“I can’t believe I won this event,” said Gilmore. “I was struggling in these waves but I managed to find two pretty decent scoring rides. Sally (Fitzgibbons) was super tough to beat and that was a really hard one, it’s so crazy, I’m so happy I won! I’ve had such an incredible time here in Portugal, Cascais, it’s such a beautiful town and I think when you feel happy in the place that you are you always seem to get a good result.”

John John Florence Wins Quik Pro France

by The Editors on October 5, 2014

Jjflor Qpf 14

John John Florence edged Jadson Andre in some heaving Le Gardian barrels on Sunday, October 5, 2014 to win the Quiksilver Pro France in front on a massive crowd of amped surf fans.

“I’m really pumped with my results lately,” Florence said. “I had a few weird things happen for me at the start of the year and I’ve made some adjustments recently. I’ve spoken to a lot of guys about the title and they all say that the title campaign actually starts the year before. I’m hoping for a few more good results this season to really make a run for it in 2015. I guess today’s win puts me in contention for this year, but Gabriel (Medina) is so far ahead that some weird stuff would have to happen.”

This is only John John Florence’s seconds WCT win. For the official word (including final days results) from the ASP, please follow the jump. [click to continue…]
